Charles Douglas: Autopilot?

Charles doesn't think so. I guess the Times- Standard followed up on my post about the factionalism within the local Greens. Hard to make heads or tails about what's going on after reading the story, though. Not their fault as it looks like the Greens aren't too sure what's going on within their party, either.

So now we've had a rift within the Republicans, although that seems to have been settled. The Greens seem to be in a bit of turmoil right now. When will the Democrats have at it? Makes me kind of glad the Libertarians don't have an active organization up here or we might have ended up with our dirty underwear splattered all over the news. Then again, it's been said that bad publicity is better than no publicity at all. I wonder if that's true?

Looks to me like any party willing to stand up to the DUHCs and their illegal measure is bound to get swamped by idiots like Meserve, eager to obey Darth Cobb and the New Order. At least Allen knows free speech aint no technicality!

with any political group there is at times infighting. Often the power struggles create chaos and nothing gets done, some desire to take all the credit in regards to anothers work. Also, when it comes to politics mud-slinging is the norm, especially when the media has already made up its mind about candidates and issues. The goal of the interveiw or comment then becomes nothing more than a tool to prove their preconceived notions. Info that goes against their notions is thus discarded.
Unfortunately I don't know the exactly what the issue is with the greens currently since I am not in Humboldt. Seems to me that most are doing the best they can with the info they have. If they are not willing to challenge their own preconcieved notions then the situation will only get worse.

Most are doing their best but are frequently sabatoged by people, and at times by members of their own party. I recall trying to get teh HSU Green Party club restarted last April and was stonewalled and sabatoged by a scumbag by the name of Dan Close. Even Dan's friend Greg Allen was honestly confused and troubled by Dan's actions. I wonder if one of the other people in that brainstorming session that was the first mtg was able to get the club restarted this year? Dan's biggest problem is that he wanted to put the cart before the horse, heck he even tried picking apart the HSU Greens Constituition that we were using from when Charles Douglas was in charge of the club. Dan Close is scum and I for one will never trust him, he did teach me an important lesson in regards to being a leader and dealing with negative people such as himself.

according to their website, no one has touched it since 1999, has it really been that long since there was a greens club on campus?

Yep, I tried to start it back up last year but Dan Close sabatoged it. Its likely the other people who came to the first couple of mtgs got discouraged and gave up before they even started. One guy said he'd restart it but I think he possibly got sidetracked. sabatoures like Dan Close are in every political party and I am troubled that there are so many in the Green party. Methinks part of it is teh need for prestige...local nobodies see the possibility of becoming somebody. Such insecurity and lack of spirituality.

You don't remember?

1. Green Party Assembly candidate's Doug Thron's billboards have earned him criticism. He offers a defense roughly summarized as "the end justifies the means," and maintains that it's not a real issue.

What say the Scrutinizers as regards Doug Thron's highway billboards?"

anyone who believes the eye should have their head examined. kevin hoover hates any greens who want a party independent of the democrat machine.

Do you believe the Journal? GREEN PARTY CANDIDATE CHARGED WITH DUI Doug Thron of Arcata, the Green Party's candidate in the 2002 1st Assembly District race, has been charged with driving under the influence, according to the District Attorney's office. He pleaded guilty last Friday to a "wet reckless," a lesser charge referring to reckless driving involving alcohol, and was sentenced to three years probation with a $1,300 fine. According to Deputy DA Zachary Bird, Thron, 33, was pulled over at 2:20 a.m. on July 5 after an Arcata police officer noticed his red Chevelle swerving across the center line. The arresting officer smelled alcohol on his breath and said that his speech was slurred, but Thron, a nature photographer and real estate agent, refused all sobriety tests, saying he'd had only "one margarita," Bird said. Thron, in contrast, told the Journal that he consented to and passed the tests, and an arrest record appears to show that he consented to two breath tests, which didn't yield a result, then refused a third. "It was dropped to a lesser charge because police had altered the data in the first place," he said. "They wrote that I failed the test, then changed it afterward [to say] that I refused. This has been a longstanding problem of mine, since I ran for office. They pull me over all the time. It's clearly just nonstop harassment by the police." Better lose that "THRON" license plate, Doug.

"Doug Thron? Never heard of him."

How could Nick Bravo never have heard of Doug Thron? I wonder who's impersonating Bravo here.

Thron's 2002 campaign is rather memorable, not the least because of Kevin Hoover's hostility, describing Thron's billboard -- in typically juvenile Hooverian fashion -- as a "bozo brainfart".

I wasn't paying attention to politics in 2002. But hey, if you wanna believe its not really me then that's your choice. If it's not me then WHO is it? Rob Ammerman? Mark Wheetley? Bob Ornelas? Charles Douglas? WHO???
By the way, remember to visit my blog!:)

Does party affiliation even matter? aren't we all some combination of all parties?

From NorthCoast Journal 2005 ...Bravo's political affiliations also remain murky. One year ago, he was a registered Republican. Sometime before the Nov. 2 election, he changed that to "decline to state." Then, on Feb. 13, it was announced that he had been elected to the steering committee of the Humboldt County Green Party. In an interview before the party's meeting that weekend, Bravo stated that he hoped to gain the Greens' endorsement. But as of last Friday afternoon, the Humboldt County Elections Office still had him down as a "decline-to-state" -- making Bravo a leader of a party that, at least at the time, he did not actually belong to....
