Faulk's Column

Anybody remember seeing this column in the Times- Standard before? Seems familiar but I can't say for sure I have. It's kind of a political blog by reporter James Faulk. A fun read. Hopefully they'll run it regularly.

Looks like James gave up on the T-S blog and decided to do his blogging where he gets paid for it.

I don't think it is a Republican, Democrat thing, James. There are democrats who like Arkley.

Its sure better than his movie reviews.

I am with 2:24 - As a democrat I think Salzman stinks. He is dishonest and a creepy little man who does sneak aroung. That is not a good thing. As for Arkley, his politics may be wrong for me, but I must say he has done some magnificent things for this community and as a democrat I like that. Unfortunately, there are many in my party who refuse to think for themselves or refuse to think at all. Instead, they jump blindly on bandwagons and frankly its embarrassing.

its amazing what passes for original thought these days. the times standard is losing all sense of taste and good writing by printing this drivel.

It's funny and original, and better than anything you'd read in that other paper.

Oh, come on now, RW. I thought it was a pretty fun read.

Arkley has done fine things for this city? I don't think so.
That shooting gallery they call a boardwalk ended up costing the tax payers 5.2 million dollars and all it does is allow the developers to be able to build to the waters edge and take away the view - because we can now walk in front of the developments onto the boardwalk, if we can just get by the junkies. Please, don't be such a sap to think that King Rob ever donated a dime. He only "invests" his money.
Be glad you don't live in New Orleans where he is about to start foreclosing (may 31st, the grace period ends) on the home of the Katrina victims.

hey Fred, why don't you put ArkelyWatch.com up on your list of other blogs. Scared to upset the big guy?

You're ridiculous. The city should have to provide matching funds. And should have some vested interest in it so they appreciate ehat they have.

"why don't you put ArkelyWatch.com up on your list of other blogs.".

For one thing, I've never heard of ArkleyWatch before. For another, it looks like a dead link to me.

Just for the record, that was at least the second time for Faulk's The Bully Pulpit. The first one was just as funny and irreverent. I like it, but I don't know about the name: Isn't it usually political office that provides a bully pulpit?

Bob writes, "Isn't it usually political office that provides a bully pulpit?".

Hmmm..maybe, but isn't the media the fourth branch of government? Let's see..there's the Executive, Juducial, Legislative and...yep, the Media.

Fred,Arkleywatch isn't a dead link.As a matter of fact the blogger has a more recent write up than Rose's blog.In fairness you should consider putting up a link to it.

I've tried that link numerous times and get on of those Page Not Found messages.

Oh, I've got more, mresquan. Thanks for reminding me.

Hey Rose, there's a great book out titled"Steal This Vote",early in the book the author(the book's not next to me,and I forgot his name)explains about how Tim Stoen essentially helped the Dems steal the 1975 San Francisco mayoral race.I do believe that he has atoned for his past mischiefs, and I still support Paul, but wow interesting reading.Actually the whole book is great, and covers the whole gamut of election fraud.

NY Times article: (Friday, Dec. 22, 1978)

It was reported that "... Mr. Stoen had obtained his post with the San Francisco District Attorney's office in return for a promise that the People's Temple would support the incumbent prosecutor, Joseph Freitas.

The Temple subsequently contributed at least $400 to an organization called "Friends of Freitas."

Then "Mr. Stoen was put in charge of the voter fraud unit of the District Attorney's office."

Needless to say, no People's Temple members were ever charged, despite reports of Temple members being bused in to vote, and falsely registering to vote in the city where they did not live.

Thanks for the tip.

does mresquan discount the reports of 18 and 20 people moving into rentals in Fortuna, and elsewherein the County with cars showing up a few days before the Recall election, and leaving immediately afterwards? Are your election reform guys going to be watching for gallegos fraud, or looking the other way because he is above reproach? Do you think they will try the same tricks this time? Or was it all just rumor, couldn't possibly be true? Is election fraud wrong no omatter who does it, and if it were shown would you waiver in your support of Paul? Or is it ok if it gets paul in because the end justifies the means? Where are your boundaries? You seem sincere.

just curious

How do you know who those 18 to 20 people would have came to vote for?I've never heard that story.Has it been proven that they were paid by friends of Gallegos?Should I think that Palco/Maxxam wouldn't resort to a tactic like that, after all they still have lawsuits pending with the FPPC for failure to report all of their financial info. The commission is so backed up now that they are taking only cases which carry a $10,000 or more fine.I think the lawsuits against them carry $5,000 fines apiece. That's proven, you can check with the FPPC to get the info. But if Paul is guilty in influencing election fraud,my support would waiver of course. Please display here on this blog all info you have regarding those 18 to 20 people moving into Fortuna, then leaving.

people who rented the homes will tell the story

who are they?

At 6:30 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

working on it, mresquan. proof is what you want.

At 10:08 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

while you're at it, mresquan, be sure to keep a watch on the "voter" turnout at hsu. Students are gone, who will be voting? Who will be standing guard at the precincts, and who will be checking the ids of absentees in the dorms?
