Justice For All?

Paul Gallegos follows Bonnie Neely's lead this morning with his own electioneering oriented My Word column in the Times- Standard.

Bonnie Neely's piece, published a few weeks ago (no link to it on the T-S website), I couldn't see any reason for writing, except as a campaign tactic to garner favor amongst environmentalists. All she did was talk about how lovely it is up here and how important it is to protect the environment.

No specific issues mentioned, just generic environmental chatter. Obviously, the self- described progressive in the race, Richard Marks, has her running scared. Otherwise, there would have been no other reason for her to have bothered writing it.

Gallegos' piece doesn't seem much different. In fact, I'm not really sure just what he's trying to say. It must be an attempt at a you'll feel better about everything if you vote for me message, and not a very good one at that, at least from my perspective.

Just exactly what is he trying to say? He seems to start and end with a generic ramble about community safety, crime prevention, rights and the people. He then goes on to suggest, I guess, that public safety and the problems in the community start and can be solved by the community.

I guess there's a point there but I'm not sure what it is.

Towards the end he writes: "While I can run on my record, I cannot rest on it.". So, finally he mentions his "record", but doesn't elaborate. I guess he gave up trying to manipulate statistics after all the heat he's taken here and realizes he doesn't have much of a record to brag about.

Oh well, nice try, Paul, but I just don't get how your commentary relates to Justice For All. Maybe you can explain that in your next My Word column?

He can't run on his record. This is another attempt to dodge his record.

That's why his handlers are so desperately trying to make it about anything and everything BUT his record.

Read his website. It's like they lifted the copy from some other candidate somewhere and they are trying to make the suit fit their boy. It doesn't fit, Paul. take it off.

Explain why you spent so much time and effort trying to raise "significant budgetary supplementation" to fund the PL lawsuit, and NO effort into finding money to sustain important programs like CAST and Victim Witness.

Explain why you think it is OK to solicit special interest money to fund a public prosecution.

Explain how equal treatment and justice for all fits into that equation.

Anyone who doesn't know what I am talking about should read Salzman's plan, posted at http://watchpaul.blogspot.com/

Then read Paul's attempt to get the Attorney General to give him permission to implement it.

Then read Stoen's asking the FPPC if he can PERSONALLY contribute to help FUND the PL lawsuit.

It isn't being distant from law enforcement the voters of Humboldt County should be worried about. It is distance from the ACTIVISTS who are driving the bus in the DAs office.

That's Paul's record.

He cares more about getting PL, and pleasing his backers than he cares about community safety, more than he cares about the people who work for him, and more than he cares about the victims of crimes.

Wow! Gallegos can sure pitch the political bullshit. Other than the usual motherhood and apple pie, this jumps out at you:
"...celebration of the individual, not as an instrument for accumulating wealth, but as a reflection of the divine;...".
The accumulation of wealth is the ONLY thing that will alleviate the depressed nature of the local economy which is mostly the result of the environazis and the redistributionist policies of the collectivists who have established a regional magnet for indigent urban outdoorsmen.
Dikeman may be no panacea, but Paul is a nutcase.

This is a great campaign piece . . . for Worth Dikeman! Thanks, Mr. Gallegos, I think you got some votes for Worth today.

Everybody I know is reading saying "Wha-a-a-a-t? What is he saying here?"

"What is he saying here?".

Good. I was worried it might just have been me that couldn't figure it out.

He is an idiot. The gift that keeps on giving.

No comment from Buhne. Such ripe material, too.

Gallegos has been smoking way too much "medicine."

At 2:52 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

He's more and more incoherent, if he wrote that himself.

He can't write didley - it was his under the covers deranged campaign manager Salzman who wrote it. Yeah - Mr. I will write under assumed names and make make midnight raids affixing anti-arkley stickers on parking meters Salzman.

Paul - keep up writing - everytime you open your mouth you sound as deranged as Patrick Riggs and Pat Higgins

Oh God - I just read it - he must have been under the influence!

Oh please - try and run on your record paul. The county needs to really see what harm you have done in three years. Try telling the victims of crime about your record of plea bargaining and releasing violent criminals into the community.

The Lunatic is running the asylum. Is this what they mean when they coined the phrase psychobabble?

I can't imagine why Paul would allow someone to write this drivel for him. It's a rambling and rhetorical piece of mental masturbation. Each phrase stands on its own as duplicitous double-speak.

Do your job. You are part of law enforcement, not a defense attorney any more. At least until you return to private practice after the election.

I am concerned about the "fruits of our indifferences" aren't you? How about the "vegtables of our intolerences." Yeah. Think about it. It is campaigning editorial fluff time. Enjoy. It only lasts a month.

Oh come on - Paul wrote it himself - look how disorganized this thing is.

Some of the sentences don't even make sense.

Just heard Gallegos on KINS. What has he been smoking? Does he even know what day it is, much less what it is he is running for?

Will we respond to the terrible costs to this community associated with our addiction and abuse of legal and illegal drugs and alcohol by reflecting on our own behavior...?

What is wrong with this statement?

Are we all addicts? No. Our abuse of legal and illegal drugs? Speak for yourself, bub.

The terrible costs to this community come when YOU let them out, Paul. You and yougofree.com. They get back out, they need more meth, they steal our stuff so they can buy more.

Who do you sympathize with? Them? Or us?

The AG endorsed Gallegos - ergo he is buddy buddy with Gallegos. What happens when the AG has to investigate the finest DA in all of California?

Where's all that distance you preach about? Will Gallegos have to go to Federal Court instead of State court?

Ken Miller must have wrote him a prop 215 card, or something.

Seems like he will most likely be faced with prosecuting dopegrowers and tree sitters, but he doesn't feel the need to distance himself from those folks!

At 11:55 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

No, he doesn't. In fact, they get a meeting with the District Attorney to tell how they "feel" before he decides whether or not to charge them.

This isn't the first time they have been able to get him to meet with them either.

Does seem to be the antithesis of the "independence" that he claims.

Cracks me up: Just noticed Local Solutions sent Gallegos' My Word column out over their e- mail list. I guess it must read pretty good to some folks. :-)

What drugs do you have to be taling for that drivel to make sense? He was even more entertaining on KINS.

At 11:52 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Best thing for Dikeman is to let Paul talk, and talk, and talk

At 9:24 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

It is curious that Gallegos speaks of "independence" from law enforcement and then seeks an endorsement from the Attorney General, who is the top law enforcement agent in the state.

What if, instead of Gallegos's constant focusing on hypothetical police misdeeds, Gallegos broke the law...it would be the Attorney General who would have to step in.

But whoops! There is no independence since they have a endorsement and therefore "buddy buddy" relationship.

It's classic Gallegos. Spin, spin, spin.

So, he says he can run on his record, let's see it.

At 3:54 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

He is too scared to bring it out - because it is so bad.

At 11:50 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

The peas he hid under the table are starting to smell? Mom's gonna be mad.

At 8:47 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

He needs to be run out of town like his cronie Tim Stoen. Hey Paul - have you asked the Mendocino DA for a job yet - you're gonna need to do so shortly.

At 2:28 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Isn't Stoen wreaking havoc in Fort Bragg? Haven't heard of any high profile cases.

Justice for all no matter how wealthy or sacrosanct, as long as it is Palco, and not a child molester, eh?

At 4:38 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Pathetic. You idiots demonize Paul by insinuating he is pro child sexual abuse because you have nothing substantial to say. You obviously have no care for the real damage done by such abuse.

At 6:21 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Paul has only one priority. It isn't running his office, and it isn't improving the programs that his office administers. If you don't believe the people who are trying to tell you about the truth behind the cult of Paul, read the Grand Jury report.

At 6:26 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

You can't blame Paul. Child abuse is down in Humboldt County since he took over. Just like crime. Why, there's only been one case of child abuse this year. It's amazing what having a talented visionary like Paul in office can do. That's what the people voted for, twice. So quit criticizing him.
