My First Poll

We certainly seem to have a diverse crowd here. Hard to tell just who is who with all the anonymous postings and what kind of a mix we have as far as political ideology. So, following the lead of some others, I decided to do a poll on this blog.

In the sidebar I've inserted a poll where you can tell us what political party you're registered with. Should be interesting to see the results.

Where are all the greens that were here a few days ago? GOTV perhaps.

Maybe. I'll leave to poll up for a week or so to make sure we get as many people as possible

Aren't a lot of people unregistered?

At 1:43 PM, Blogger Eric V. Kirk said...

I think probably very few people interested in a mostly political blog on or near an election are going to be unregistered.

That being said, when I was tabling on Sunday, a few people came up and asked me if they could register for today's election. I explained to each of them that it was too late, and one guy actually got mad at me like it way MY fault!

At 2:26 PM, Blogger Fred Mangels said...

Eric's probably right, but I suppose there might be some unregistered folks who wouldn't have a problem coming here to complain about things.

Did they register anyway in anticipation of future elections?

At 4:06 PM, Blogger Eric V. Kirk said...

Only one.

What are the party percentages in Eureka?

At 4:36 PM, Blogger Eric V. Kirk said...

Eureka or Humboldt County?

Fred, I don't think you needed to ask my vote but I did....nah, nah, nah, nah, nah! Great idea for a poll! Most blogs want very specific polls, this was good! Hope you are well, my friend to the left!

Fred, how about some last minute local election predictions?

At 5:53 PM, Blogger Fred Mangels said...

Pam writes: "my friend to the left!".

How dare you, Pam. I'm a Libertarian, neither to the Left or Right. Of course, you'll never understand that. Understood.

Don't worry, others on the Left and Right don't understand it either.

5:17: Local election predictions?

I have no idea. I'd like to think most people would vote my way, but you never know.

We've had so many skuzzbags move up here, over the last few years, I suspect the vote will be totally disappointing.

We'll see what the results are on Wednesday.

Keep in mind, I'm used to losing.

Whatever, 7:56. Notice how I cover myself by not making to strong a prediction?

16 percent reporting...are you following the county website fred?

At 8:59 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

or is 18 percent....

i wonder exactly which precincts have reported first....or if these are only absentee

At 9:07 PM, Blogger Eric V. Kirk said...

Where are you getting the results. I'm at the county site, and they only have the absentee results.

At 9:16 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

i was also listening to fm 104.3

however, they were reporting the exact same thing....

At 9:20 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

to be honest, i dont think that at this point, that these are ONLY absentee ballots. I know that is what the link says, but there seem to be a large number of votes for it to just be absentee ballots...

gallegos has pulled ahead with 80 % of the vote in 52 to 48 83.97%

looks like t has pulled comfortably ahead as well

At 12:07 AM, Blogger Eric V. Kirk said...

It's been called for Gallegos. 52.6 percent vs. 47.3 percent for Dikeman. Only two precincts left to count, both in Arcata.

T passes as well.

82 is going down. 81 is in trouble, but making a move as the LA votes come in.

this is tragic

anon 3:59 - Oh come on. As a lifelong liberal who's been on the losing side of most election battles, I can tell you that the sun comes up the next morning, you get out and fight to mitigate what you perceive to be the damage, and live to see another fight.

Gallegos made some promises. Hold him to them.

What a great morning!

Horray!

At 8:52 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

He only won due to the date of the election.

At 6:54 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

no he won because of salzman's dirty tricks. a murderer's mother spouting lies, repeating the lie over and over and over until it became true.

gallegos didn't make any campaign promises, he didn't keep the ones he made the first time. don't even try to hold him to anything. he is untouchable.

this county deserves what it gets.

you tell the little kids that are getting fucked tonight how you live with that eric.

At 7:10 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Actually he won because Worth Dikeman is such a bad candidate. If you keep turning up losers like Dikeman and Crawford, you all can expect to keep losing.

At 8:50 PM, Blogger Eric V. Kirk said...

Anon 6:54 - ever think of writing children's books?

At 9:22 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

next time we'll put up a lying incompetent pretty boy who sleeps around on his wife, that ought to cover all the bases

At 10:51 PM, Blogger Eric V. Kirk said...

buddaboom!

At 1:31 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

too bad Worth didn't go negative. he should've brought up Paul's buddy's dad slitting his own throat in the jail after getting busted for child molestation, getting quietly handled, kept out of the papers, and Paul being in on the child interview of his buddy's daughter. maybe going negative, and telling the complete truth would even have gotten to you, eric, and bit. Worth was too nice.

your boy is dirty through and through, and getting re-elected won't clean him up.

At 2:22 PM, Blogger Eric V. Kirk said...

That would have been cheap, and Dikeman would have gone down by a much larger margin.

At 10:32 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

and this is how dirty politicians rise up and up and up, eric, no one dares point out their flaws, especially their worst ones for fear of going negative. as time goes on, less and less people know what the person's true character is, people like you have glossed it all over. and while you'll vilify those who don't agree with you, you'll look the other way when it comes to your boy.

At 10:45 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

yeah, you give money to gallegos, your dad gets busted for abusing your daughter, and he covers it all up for you. Better get out your wallet, eric. Justice is for sale in the DAs office. That's what his Orwellian slogans tell you. Where his weaknesses are.

At 12:45 AM, Blogger Eric V. Kirk said...

Yeah, I noticed that Dikeman really had a fear of going negative.

At 11:54 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Dikeman is eternally kind and polite.

At 10:12 AM, Blogger Eric V. Kirk said...

In person, sure. But his campaign was very slimy, and he lost as a consequence.

At 10:38 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

exactly what was slimy eric?

Let's see, he pointed out that the Grand Jury found Paul incompetent at best. He pointed out that brain drain was occurring, and that Paul is a piss poor manager. Yeah. Pretty slimy.

and all the loving support gallegso received won't help teh county now
