Endorsements

Local Solutions came out with their endorsements for the Eureka City Council races. As Times- Standard reporter, Kimberly Wear, notes, no surprises there. I was expecting to see endorsements in some of the other races. Anyone know if they'll pipe in on some of the other races around the county like Arcata and Rio Dell city councils?
*************

Speaking of endorsements, I thought it was a smart move by the Governator to refuse to seek an endorsement from the California Correctional Peace Officers Association. The question now is what Phil Angelides will do. The Sacramento Bee takes a look at the situation. Any guesses as to which path Angelides will take?

I think the smart thing for him to do is not to ask for the endorsement. They'll probably give it to him whether he asks for it or not.

They interviewed candidates in Arcata two or three weeks ago. They are chest thumping by making media announcements one at a time. Why have your name in the newspaper once and be forgotten when you can appear several times?

Hmmm...did I miss those endorsements? I must have.

Typical yellow journalism from both T-S and ER, just disgusting. Also, wasn't Anon.R.Salzman just lecturing us on how Loco Solutions wasn't masterminding the intimidation tactics already in evidence in Eureka's 1st ward?

They haven't announced Arcata endorsements yet. Try next week. *thump* *thump* *thump*

Did Local Solutions interview all the candidates? No! They knew Virginia Bass was on a honeymoon! Their agenda regardless of being educated of facts. But it is their PAC so evil is as evil does.

Their jerks , It's more like LOCO SOLUTIONS.

Again, there wasn't any intimidation. Ask the candidates that withdrew. I have.

Actually you have to admit it is a good move on Local Solutions part to do their endorsements in separate installments. More media exposure qualifies their existence. Are they legitimate? You bet they are or we would not be having this conversation. I don't agree with the way they do business, but then I could create my own Political Action Committee (PAC) if I was so inclined to.

PACs are easy to create. It would behoove every political party to start several in this county if the news media is dumb enough to report these endorsements as news. Such endorsements belong on campaign literature. It's a PAC for frickin sake!

Really? Have you asked Maria Hershey? She got phone calls from both Glass and Salzman.

Anon.R.Salzman

I laughed.

So where is the news? Let's start a local PAC, call it United Carpetbaggers of Humboldt County, and support Larry Glass ourselves.

I am a friend of Maria's and to say she was intimidated into stepping aside is very far from the truth.

At 2:39 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

So...how would you describe these phone calls, forceful persuasion, requests for a favor, or simply dirty politics?

At 2:53 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

id like to know where you get your facts about maria beacsue she is saying the exact oppset then you

At 3:09 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

So now you don't deny there were phone calls, but you say they were friendly? How many times will your story change Mike?

At 3:10 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

And I have no need to disclose my resources just so you can attack them instead of addressing the issue.

At 3:12 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

At 3:21 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Do you deny the phone calls, or do you just believe whatever lie Salzman spouts this week?

At 4:00 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Who is Mike?

Hate to disagree, but check the definition of the word "progressive". It means to move forward, a gradual betterment. You should rename your Humboldt party the “regressive” party.

How does the so-called progressive party help Humboldt County by stopping all private sector jobs and home development?

If you think that government and non-profit jobs are the only way to go, you may want to take Econ 101.

What tremendous leaps!

Well, I sometimes think the "conservative" proposals I hear are more radical than conserving, so I guess there's plenty of inconsistancy to go around. When you speak of "progressive" you're basically talking about what was termed "left wing" in whatever country happened to have certain parliamentary representatives sitting in certain areas of the seats. The term "progressive" to define a leftish agenda actually predates "liberal," which in fact in most countries means centrist. Most countries have a conservative party, a liberal party, and a labor or social democratic party. We've got the first two. No left really.

Though Local Solutions announced* they would be conducting interviews AFTER August 12th - in fact they were already actively promoting Larry Glass as early as June 28th, Peter LaVallee as early as July 14th, and Ron Kuhnel as early as July 26th.

All current and future candidates who are considering participating in these sham interviews should see that your participation only lends legitimacy to their ultimate "selection" of the opponent they are already backing.

I thought Local Solutions created some of these candidates. Glass, Kuhnel and Abrams that is. Am I wrong?
