Left and Right Finally Agree?

Well, for the most part they do, at least on one issue. The Sacramento Bee's, Dan Walters, takes a look at some of the upcoming ballot initiatives, including one that seems to have fairly strong Left and Right Wing support: Prop 90, the eminent domain reform initiative.

I'm probably going to oppose it, for reasons I'll go into later. But that's only based on what I've heard about the initiative. I'm going to have to read it first.

The initiative process is out of control in this state and has done a lot of harm. People are voting on things based on who supports the initiative and how the initiative is described by proponents and opponents with the obvious results that the long range implications of poorly drafted propsals have a created havoc in many areas.

I'm reluctantly beginning to agree with you. In particular I think it's way to easy to amend our state constitution. That should require 2/3.

On the other hand, it is a valuable resource when the legislature isn't doing its job. There has to be some kind of balance.

Dan Weintraub points out someone backing an upcoming initiative who will benefit financially from it as well in today's commentary in the Sac Bee:
