Rob Arkley A Billionaire?

Everybody keeps saying that Rob Arkley's a "billionaire". Now Cap'n Buhne seems confused that Forbes magazine didn't list Arkley on their recently released list of "Richest Americans". He points out that Security National's own web site describes the company as a "multi- billion dollar business".

I suppose I might be off base here, but I've said before that, to my knowledge, Rob Arkley isn't quite yet a billionaire. I mentioned some time ago speaking with someone who knows Arkley quite well. He told me Arkley had indicated to him he wasn't a billionaire...not yet, anyway.

Of course, that was earlier this year and I don't know exactly when the conversation he had with Arkley took place so my info could be outdated.

I think the confusion exists because many people equate Rob Arkley with Security National Corp., which is a fair equation to make. That said, it would depend on how much of a stake Rob has in Security National.

Security National, being a corporation, is publicly owned, I would think. It likely has numerous shareholders. How many shares of Security National does Rob Arkley own? Just because Security National is worth billions, doesn't necessarily mean Rob is in complete control of all those assets.

It would be interesting to know just who owns the majority of Security National. I wouldn't be surprised if the Arkleys do own most of it. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't possess assets worth over a billion dollars themselves, either.

I suppose, in the end, it depends how you crunch the numbers.

Just because SNC is a corporation does not mean it is publicly owned. A Board of Directors is not the same thing as shareholders. Security National, and all of its many subsidiaries, are all privately held by Rob and Cherie Arkley. I do not believe that there are any additional partners.

If Rob and Cherie Arkley are the sole owners of SNC, and SNC has net assets of over a billion dollars, then Rob and Cherie Arkley have net assets of over a billion dollars.

Keep in mind, too, that net assets are not the same thing as gross assets, so the "billionaire" tag still may not apply.

My understanding is SN is a privately owned company. The Forbes list is only for publicly owned companies, though they do have a seperate list for these sorts of businesses.

The Forbes list of billionaires is for individuals, not companies.

Arkley's personal wealth isn't a billon dollars.

Agreed. Depends how the corp is organized, of which I have little, if any knowledge. Net vs. Gross? Again, depends how you crunch the numbers.

anonymous 10:58 AM - The Forbes 400 list is for both publicly and privately held corporations and individuals.

Finance 101 lesson: I can own $1 billion of real estate, but if I have $800 million of loans against these properties, then my "net worth" would only be $200 million.

Since SN Service Corp. is privately held, only Rob and Cheri Arkely (and their CFO and CPA) probably know their net worth and it's none of anyone's business.

How much is Bill Pierson worth? Again, none of anyone's business.

If you stock in a public corporation and know how to read annual reports, can track the S.E.C. quarterly 10-Qs, annual 10-Ks, Form 4 (Statement Of Changes In Beneficial Ownership Of Securities), Yahoo Finance, etc., you can make a pretty decent guesstimate of one’s net worth.

With a privately help corporation it’s anyone’s guess the net worth of the owners.

Let's just all agree that the Arkley's are worth more than you and I (put together).

Well, you're just talking money. Ultimately, they are worth no more or no less than you or I. We're all people with equal rights under the law. How much money one has in the bank doesn't (well, at least, shouldn't) give any one any more standing under the law, or entitle them to greater political representation.

Pollyanna, signing off.

Uh-huh. You keep telling yourself that.

In today's Los Angeles Times (that's called citing your source Mr. D.A.) "Sacramento real estate tycoon Angelo Tsakopoulos, who with his family spent more than $8 million on TV ads for (Democrat Phil) Angelides in the primary."

That's after-tax money and political contributions are not tax-deductible.

I don't know about you, but I don't got any $8 million lying around in my checking account to give away to a political flunky who may or may not get elected.

But you are correct in that whether you're a millionaire, billionaire or living in poverty, you only get one vote in November.

I find it absurd that so many are worried about Arkley's money, and teh money of other millionaires and billionaires. Stop hating them for their wealth and learn how to create your own wealth. Stop demanding the socialist wet dream of entitlement pay in which everyone else owes you a living.

The Arkleys are part of our Satanic cult, which is now preparing for the Ritual of Yaldoth. Remember, meat cows can be used in place of horses if need be. We already have 3 horses at an undisclosed location in Humboldt county and potentially we shall have the other two needed soon as they are being shipped in by a contact in New Mexico. So if all goes well we shall not need cows, but still better to be prepared for all possibilities.

Fred, we ask you to bring another sheep to this one, since you can't afford a horse or cow. We thankyou for your diligent service thus far, but remember, if you ever dare to cross us -- we know where you live.

Well at least the latest post has a much firmer grip on humor. Of course the first thing that hits you is the photo. My gawd, Patricia Kakridas is one beautiful babe! (pant pant)

But the Buhner's post is almost funny:

Channel 3 newsgal Patricia Kakridas has departed our pitiful Victorian Seaport for the white-hot newsmarket of Springfield, Ill. -- home of the Ozark Mountains, bass fishing and Maury Povich recruiters.
We wish her all the best with her sweet new gig on the set of (Hee Haw) station WAND.
Work it, girl!

Oh yeah babe!

With a photo like that, all I can think of is that sexy girl just workin' it!

SN Holding Corporation and all of it's many subsidiaries is wholly owned by Mr. and Mrs. Arkley and their 2 daughters. They have awarded small equity stakes in some of their ventures to a few key employees. They will never go public.

Hey, No Problem with Arkley's bucks, even if he did "earn" them questionably. It's the way Arkley uses his money to make whores out of people and to support his nasty right-wing friends like Senators Rick Santorum and George Allen that bother me - and the way he scoops up influence at City Hall. Vote for Neely, LaVallee, Kuhnel, Glass and Abrams, your solid pro-democracy, Arkley's-just-a-citizen-with-the-same-and-no-more-rights-than-you-or-me slate. Now, can you make a bumper sticker out of that?

At 10:25 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Google up Santorum and Allen if you really want a look at Rob Arkley. He shall be known by the politicians to which he gives...

At 10:39 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

anonymous 10:24 AM - please for vote your slate of Neely, LaVallee, Kuhnel, Glass and Abrams.

This way we can kiss goodbye to any jobs, housing or private development.

What we will get is more used CDs, six-pack housing for drug/alcohol addicts and an even larger government complete with more taxpayer waste (what happened to the latest $500,000 Supervisor Neely?).

Oh I'm sorry, I forget. You don't have a job, so you don't pay taxes.

Some of us citizens have to work for a living.

Wow, a really powerfulm, fact-filled argument there. Makes about as much sense as saying Bonnie Neely hates kids. OOPS! I forgot! Nancy Flemming's son already made that claim!

How 'bout if I start saying that a vote for Flemming, Bass, Leonard or Jones is a vote to turn Eureka into a toxic waste dump? How 'bout if I claim that they will turn Old Town into a row of whorehouses and strip clubs? How 'bout if I say that they will return us to the good old days of killing all the Wiyots on Indian Island? If I say these stupid an ludicrous things, does it make them true?

Of course not, just as you can say equally stupid $hit and it doesn't make it true, either.

BTW, I'm not 10:24, but I happen to be a hard worker who has never taken a dime of public money. Never even taken a day of welfare, unemployment, social security, or paid sick leave, either. Seems your worldview is built on falsehoods.

FYI, 10:24 pays a LOT of taxes. You don't have to be in the poorhouse to want good government. Not all income-earners are mouth-foaming republicons, either. Extremists are the biggest problem. Like the ones Arkley supports.

At 1:46 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Since when are Johnnie Walker and Fruit of the Loom extremists?

At 4:03 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

"If I say these stupid an ludicrous things, does it make them true?"
As usual I notice you respond with fear and no facts.

Glass sells used CDs (a dead business), LaVallee works for a non-profit bringing in more six-pack drug and alcohol rehab homes to our neighborhoods, Nan works as a civil servant, and Bonnie is a career politician who is hiding from her recent waste of $500,000 of taxpayer funds. Those are facts.

Most of what I read on the blogs is written by the Orks or by Neal Latt, Andrew Bird, or Salzman (who NEVER uses his name).

Although I’ve heard that Salzman is now pimping for Mayor LaVallee on “Redwood Progressives” website, one of many he uses to hide his name. Be careful whom you get in bed with Mr. Mayor. The devil has his due. Ain’t nothing free.

If you want to have any credence writing for the radical extremist, then use your REAL name. Not one invented to hide your identity. And try facts, not fear.

Name one company Mayor LaVallee has brought to Eureka?
Same for Supervisor Neely (in Eureka)?

"...he scoops up influence at City Hall"
Why are you so obsessed with Arkley?

Maybe the Arkley’s should ask all the local charities to give back his donations since they seem to hate him, but love his money so much.

Anyone who works for the RCAA should NOT be elected to serve this City . Lavallee is a big LIAR ! He says his occupation is incumbant when he works 50 hrs . a week for the rcaa . What a piece of shxt these people are !!!!! Check out , The League of Women Voters - site .

Redwood Community Action Agency can be better understood at http://www.rcaa.org. At RCAA they know about the link between poverty and crime and have done more for the city (and county) than any other organization. RCAA runs a nominally-sized shelter program, plus the city-owned Multiple Assistance Center, but most of the six-capacity group homes, which are allowed by state law which over-rides the city's laws, are operated by other organizations. Bashing RCAA is something akin to hurting your self. Doesn't make sense.

Don't knock LaVallee for being a dedicated public servant. And Larry Glass is one of the longest-serving, well-meaning community activists in Eureka. He is a caring and loving, hardworking, thoughtful guy. If Eureka's voters elect Larry, the improvement in city government will be noticeable right away. Add Bonnie Neely, Ron Kuhnel and Nan Abrams and it will be a freeing-up of the city, to grow into the future with positive, educated leadership.

So stop being so negative, will you? You sound like Dubya.

At 8:42 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Since you love the RCAA so much then you can put some of these white trash shelters into your yard along with , Lavalle , Neely , Bass and the others who don't give a hoot about , Eureka . Oh and by the way why does Lavalle list his occupation as incumbant on the league of women voters site when he's employed full time for the rcaa ? FRIGGING LIAR , that's why !

It seemed that Tim Flemming was mostly upset that Bonnie Neely, a resident herself in Myrtletown, stood by while NIMBYs called Zoe Barnum students 'losers' and 'future welfare recipients'. Tim expected Bonnie-who knows better, to stand up for those kids at least on the name calling score and yes maybe he went a little ballistic.

It would be nice if Ms Neely would intervene because she can, to straighten things out.

LOL! Tears rolling down my cheeks. Larry Glass is all about stopping a Best Buy. Period. Otherwise all he does is protest any sort of growth or development in Eureka.

"Add Bonnie Neely, Ron Kuhnel and Nan Abrams and it will be a freeing-up of the city, to grow into the future with positive, educated leadership."

Please explain how the City of Eureka would grow when all these people want to do is stop any and all development.

Say what you want about the Arkely family -- at least they've brought jobs to Eureka. Think where we'd be if SN left town.

At 12:28 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yeah right ! Add Neely and we get more shelters and needles for low life scumbags .

At 12:31 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

and why is Neely .......an rcaa member living in myrtletown ? cause she doesn't wanna live in town with all the scumbags she brought into eureka _ that's why .

At 4:07 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

does anybody know if Bonnie Neely has ever had a real job ? By real job I mean outside the County Board of Supervisors ? Has she ever owned a business?

Didn't Neely work as the secretary for the Board of Supervisors and then somehow get appointed to fill in for someones vacancy, then get to run as the incumbant ? And what was her relationship with Terry Farmer at that time ? At that time !

It would make for an interesting soap opera.

What exactly are the qualifications to be on the board of supervisors?????????
