Mendocino D.A. Race Goes To Court

Looks like recently appointed District Attorney for Mendocino County, Keith Faulder, has filed papers with the State Supreme Court challenging the upcoming election for District Attorney. Somewhat odd in that Faulder is expected by most to be the one that would be appointed to Vroman's position if Vroman wins.

As it stands now, if the late Norm Vroman wins the election, the Board of Supervisors will appoint someone to take Vroman's place. Faulder interprets the law as requiring the election for D.A. be invalidated since one of the candidates died and a special election be held for that position later on.

The county elections folks see it differently. I guess we'll just have to see what the State Supreme Court says.

They still have a Vroman for DA sign up in Willits. I saw it a few days ago on my way home.

There's a bunch of Vroman signs up around Ukiah, as well. As that article says, the Vroman campaign is still quite active despite his death.

Not really Fred, the signs were up before his death.

Among other things if Vroman is elected it will be somewhat of a tribute to his memory. I never thought much of him but to those that do it would be a good reason to vote for him now.

I've seen quite a few Vroman signs up, on and off the main drags. But I suspect Lintot will win.

I believe she got the most votes in the primary. Three way race at the time, though, so it ended up like Humboldt's fourth district race.

I said that I would never Vote for Vromen. I just did. Faulder is a good man that would do great things for Mendocino County. He has a lot of Vromen's views without having all of the personal views that Vromen associated with his decision making process.
