Did My Vote Count?

I've actually wondered about that, this last time being the first time I voted absentee while actually being in town. It didn't help that the Times- Standard ran this article today going through the reasons some absentee ballots were tossed, or had to be corrected.

But, looks like there weren't really that many ballots tossed out when compared to the total number of ballots turned in. What are the chances mine was among them? Pretty slim, I suppose.

Besides, I've been told that when you vote for Libertarians you're just wasting your vote anyway, so I guess it's no big deal.

Hey Fred, that ballot pictured in the standard may have been yours. If you notice the person marked in the hole next to Dale Ogden for insurance commissioner.Although I don't think that your's would be that dirty, unless you filled out your ballot while gardening.

Fred, hope your vote counted, for I heard that you voted for Flemming--that would put us down by 132 and if the wife voted the way you did--that would be 131. If this is the case---thanks Fred for moving us closer to Victory!!

I thought there had been an earlier report of a ballot folded into a crane origami style.

I hadn't noticed the votes on the pictured ballot. I don't think my ballot was that dirty.

One thing that had me concerned, was I used a blue Sharpie marker to fill in the ovals. When I was done, you could see that markings on the other side of the paper, as the ink had bled through. I wondered if that might give false readings.

Then again, seems to me the same thing happens when you vote in person. Elections uses similar markers, so it's probably like that with everyone's ballots.

The stupid Times - Standard is the real GADFLY . They called me 5 times in the last week trying to get me to subscribe to their gadfly newspaper . I just wish Arkley would put more worthy news articles in their paper so , we could get rid of that GADFLY newspaper called the Times - Mis-Standard !

Can't use blue. It said so in the instructions.

I believe the instructions said to use a black or blue marker.

Over at Eric's blog, he comments on someone who was able to verify their absentee ballot was counted:
