Libertarians Go After Humboldt and Mendocino

Just noticed, after looking at the most recent Libertarian Party of California Executive Committee meeting minutes, the LPC seems to have plans for a test project in Humboldt and Mendocino counties.

Dubbed a "Pilot Registration" project, I assume they're going to have a voter registration drive, or some such, up here. Looks like they have around $13,000+ a month that they'll be spending on radio ads, door to door contact and outreach booths.

Gee...first I'd ever heard of it. Wonder why they chose Humboldt and Mendocino?

If any of you hear or see anything ads on the radio or elsewhere, let me know.

Thank goodness the Libs are getting serious, its time to take on the two-party system of evil from all sides.

Guess that means your days as the one man Libertarian Central Committee are over Fred. All these new folks coming in are going to want to have their say.

Perhaps, 10:14. Of course, that depends on how successful they are in their recruiting. You also have to wonder where all these potential central committee members have been all these years.

One thing to keep in mind, is that the LP of CA, at the behest of the State Chair, no longer has the traditional central committe that is voted in during the primary elections. The State Chair, and I assume some others, decided they didn't like that as they only like to consider dues paying members as the County Central Committee.

So, unlike in the past when the Elections Division gave us something like 7 CCC positions to fill (based on the number of registered LP voters), now we can have as many as we'd like, assuming you can find people that want to pay dues.

So, I'm actually not sure just how many Central Committee members Humboldt has right now, since I haven't been sent a membership list for at least a year. I suppose that has to do with the fact I'm not a dues paying member of LPC anymore, myself.

I'm sure they'll be selling memberships during their voter registration drive, but at $50 a year, that will be a bit pricey for most.

Those that do go for the sales pitch, in my experience, often end up letting their membership expire after the one year, so it's usually a short term gain anyway.

It will be interesting to see just what they do and how successful they are. I'd also like to know who is going to door their "door to door" contacting. I haven't heard a word from them although maybe they've contacted some of the few current dues paying members? I don't know.

As an aside, back when I started out with LPC, we had something like 30+ dues paying members. I believe we went to 45ish and then started dwindling down. Last count I have is 18, and I'm sure there's probably quite a few less by now.

Smartest thing the libertarians and republicans can do in '08 is run serious candidates and fund them in such a way that they can put the smackdown on Chesbro.

For a Libertarian Fred, you sure do delete alot of comments. I sense a control freak here.

Fred only deletes comments that are excessivly insulting and have nothing to do with the topic at hand.
