Musgrave Goes For State Assembly

This just in from Arcata's, Ed Musgrave, via my West Coast Libertarians Yahoo Group:

I would like to announce my candidacy for the Libertarian nomination
for the 1st Assembly District, which covers the North North Coast from
Oregon to Santa Rosa.I am focusing like a laser beam on the CPS and
Juvenile Court.Within that beam, I am concentrating on the involuntary
separation of children from their brothers, sisters and parents.

Never met the guy, personally, or even spoken with him on the phone. Ed was one of three libertarians that ran for office back in the primary(?). He was the only one that lost, coming in third in some Arcata school district race.

Last I heard publicly from Ed was a letter in one of the local papers endorsing Arcata City Council candidate, Bobby Harris', call for a rent control ordinance- hardly a libertarian position to take.

Don't know that using Child Protective Service and Juvenile Court reform as an issue will get him anywhere. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Quite frankly, I didn't want to deal with a State Assembly race this soon after the election. I'll give him credit for starting early, though.

There are so many horrendously bad parents abusing their kids, or nurturing future criminals, that I'd like to see Child Protective Services beefed up. Correct any problems in the system instead of reducing its scope. Increase its scope and start cleaning up society. It's one thing to sit back and academically philosophize about personal rights and reducing government involvement, but it's a whole other thing to sit by and let lives be destroyed virtually from birth, to the detriment of us all.

I doubt he has the political power to be much of a challenge for Chesbro.

Hopefully Mr. Musgrave will be facing off with Richard Marks in the General election in 2008. Chesbro has served enough years on the dole. Time for the north coast to stop recycling politicians and bring new ideas instead of partisan politics.

The important thing to do is ensure Chesbro's downfall. He's part of the reason we have such a lousy economy here and such a big problem with lack of services to assist the homeless and the mentally ill.

I will vote for whoever makes Humboldt a profitable, and comfortable place for the homeless such as myself who are in need of free services and free stuff.

Good. Then everyone, agrees: Vote for anybody but Chesbro in the general election, and Richard Marks in the primary, assuming you're a Democrat?

NO you nazi! Chesbro will give us homeless people more freebies and tax the working stiffs. Thus vote for chesbro so I can continue my homeless way of life and the homelessness culture can continue to thrive!

The more the merrier, we need everyone we can get in the fight against the Dem machine. I hope the Libs put up a good Congress candidate against that closet case Thompson too.

I guess we wont see his sign in your yard. You would rather endorse candidates like nancy and virginia. They are true Libertarians. Or are you trying to mow a few more lawns?

No! if you elect libertarians they'll expect people to exercise personal responsibility i.e. get jobs and take charge of their lives!
