Getting Publicity You Want...

and hating it.

Will this news item have Cap'n Buhne ending comments on his blog once again?

Looks like this blogger, hiding behind the alias Spocko, has been attacking talk radio he doesn't like, namely right- wing talk radio specifically in the form of KSFO.

We've seen some comments here disparaging KSFO. I'm not sure I've ever listened to them.

What gets me is the story says Spocko had something like fifteen regulars visiting his blog every day. Wow! Is this guy the King of Bay Area Bloggers, or what?

So, the guy has a rarely visited blog and uses stuff he hears on KSFO to try and get advertisers to stop buying space on at least some KSFO shows. KSFO doesn't like it so they put pressure on Spocko. Spocko pulls some stuff off his blog.

Hey, I can understand KSFO not wanting the guy to misrepresent things that have been said on their radio shows. But you can't help wonder if they're making a mountain out of a molehill. After all, hardly anybody was visiting the blog anyway.

At least not many visited before a big issue was made out of it and it made the papers. Let's see how many people start visiting his blog now.

Sometimes it's probably best to just let misfits be misfits. They could have tried to keep this issue a little more low profile.

Who handles this sort of stuff for radio stations anyway?

ABC got their panties twisted inna wad when Big Advertisers pulled ads. Not because of what Spocko posted, but of what they later found out when they investigated what shows the ads were on. ABC should be having a problem with the 'On Air Personalities' and the junk they spew, not with Spocko.

Typical Corporate Witchhunt.

Fred, this is exactly the kind of story that only independents can report. The MSM has been turning a blind eye to the offensive hate-mongering of the Limbaughs and Savages for years. Free flow of information can make corrections of abuses in society possible without a bloody revolution. Don't these right wing hacks understand that? Our Founding Fathers did.

Thanks for the post Fred.

Let's hope that this backfires in every possible way on Disney/ABC.

Methinks Right Wing Radio blowhards need to be held accountable for the slander and lies they sell. Is it 'Free Speech' if you're getting paid to say it?

Right wing radio blowhards?? Slander and lies? Hey Derchoadus, do you weep at the loss of Air America? I suppose you think Randy Rhoades and Al "Stuart Smalley" Franken are outstanding, legitimate journalists and not "offensive hate mongers". What a bunch of friggin hypocrites.

Actually, what I heard was that KSFO was more upset about the fact that he was sending recordings of their programming to the station's sponsors, more so than anything he had on his blog, which by now is getting much more than 15 visits per day.

The controversy has reached the NY Times.,

Where the story bothers me is with the blog provider, which pulled the blog upon receiving a letter from KSFO's lawyers when the usage seems pretty clearly in line with the Fair Use Doctrine. The blog provider obviously has a gutless legal team.
