Bringing People Together

I've suggested here before that Liberty is something most people value and, as such, it should be common ground for bringing people together.

Zombie takes a look at another way people have come together: Hate, as he describes it, is bringing some elements of the Left and Right together.

Not sure that hate is the word I'd use, but I'll let Zombie speak for himself.

You'll hear every Sunday that love is the most common unifying principle. Thats not my experience. I'd say fear is the emotion that most commonly brings people together. Of course fear and hate can be related, as we often hate the things we fear.

Lust brings an awful lot of folks together, greed too.

Well, lust might bring two people (or a few more if they're into the group thing) but I think Fred meant national unity.

I'd say greed ultimately divides people. But I can see your point. I'd say greed promotes only very ephemeral unity i.e. no honor among thieves.
