Challenges To Teen Challenge?

Hey! They stole my headline... almost. Nah, not quite the same, but close to the title of my last post.

Not copying me. I don't think. I had a hard time figuring out what to use for the title of my last post on Teen Challenge. They probably did too.

Good article on the Teen Challenge situation, though. About the only thing missing is a link to my blog. :-)

One of the worst phrased headlines was in a recent Eureka Reporter, Bluff Erosion Worries Grow. I imagine some pot growers freaking out about their harvest falling into the river.

I thought "Bluff owner lets lawsuit slide" was pretty clever, same with "County keeps safety on DA rifle request."

good article? come on, the sub-standard is just a mouthpiece for the government, the city government in this case...the city staff is determined to get this project through one way or another...this is the lamest example of a "libertarian" blog that ive ever seen.....fred, i think that you mean LIBERAL, not libertarian

As if. Nobody cares about your stinking little blog. Especially since its obvious you're just like a high schooler looking for attention from the "big boys" who really do make a difference.

huh? what does that mean?...please elaborate.........

How about comparing the amount and depth of coverage this issue was given by the Standard and the Reporter? Even a prejudiced person can see the Reporter has denigrated the opposition.

The Standard interviewed neighbors, pro and con, asking for their opinions. The Reporter interviewed people about how "Jesus" has saved them. The Reporter coverage implies support for Teen Challenge is support for Jesus (or more sinisterly: opposition to Teen Challenge is opposition to Jesus). But Jesus has nothing to do with the impact the facility will have on the neighborhood. Unless you're a evangelical fundamentalist prostlyizer, dedicated to expanding your ministry.

Do you think that the Strombeck/Arkley connection has anything to do with the Reporter's soft coverage? Oh, but that would be "conspiratorial", which is about as evil as not supporting Jesus.

the eureka reporter had 4 or 5 articles about the issue, did you read them all? i thought that at least 3 of the articles were pro-opposition; the TS had 2 articles, both seeming to lean towards the government's stance....i am a neighbor, ive been in touch with the eureka reporter at least 5 times(theyve called me).....the TS said that they "lost' my letter to the editor.....

Ouch, 4:31,is your nose bleeding?
Seems the facts as presented by 4:37 just punched you in the nose, lol.

4:31, Using the word "denigrated" is probably not a good idea, considering what happened to Imus;
but even so, I think you may have used it incorrectly. Time to pull out the old dictionary?

Do you think this Teen Center is part of the Bush "Faith-Based Initiative"?

fred should look up "libertarian".....he stopped at "liberal"

spider,
the director of teen challenge sat on bush's committee for faith based initiatives....look it up.....this organization has pushed for INCREASED governemntal funding for their programs since 1995, not less funding like they claim......

"this organization has pushed for INCREASED governemntal funding for their programs since 1995, not less funding like they claim......".

Again; What does that have to do with whether or not they can open up at Wabash and Union?

Absolutely nothing Fred, don't start expecting these intolerant yuppie scum to start making sense. They want social justice, they want it NOW! and they want it far far away from where they live. Typical hypocrisy.

Well I hope some of,Fred included got a glimpse of this Quote from Mr.Lamberson at last night's meeting.
"We’re not running a drug and alcohol recovery program,” Lamberson responded to a meeting attendee’s question about the decision to not hire medical staff. “(This is) a one-year Christian discipleship."

At 9:37 AM, Blogger Fred Mangels said...

Well, then I guess that settles it. What better place to house a Christian Discipleship than in a church?

Teen Challenge, you'll remember, is the faith based organization that runs some local substance abuse recovery centers and is planning on opening a large one on Wabash Street in Eureka.

Not according to Mr.Lamberson.

Fred doesn't mind, he'll look forward to them knocking on his door to go to a prayer meeting. He's already a "true believer" just needs to roll around on the floor a little. Teen Challenge is a religious group looking to convert everyone to Christian fundamentalism using public funds. These guys will make the Iraqi Muslims's attempts to "cleanse" their communities look amateurish. But their real agenda, backed by Strombeck/Arkley, is total economic and social control. Thats much more scary than the disorganized and confused efforts of the progressives.

I look at the latest Reporter coverage and still find its mostly interviews the people who were "saved" and gives no facts about Teen Challenge and its operations. Mostly anecdotal stories of how "Jesus saves". Thats pure religios theology, not unbiased coverage of events and facts.

As much as I'm loathe to admit it,
I'm with ol' pickle-face Brandenburg on this one.

It's a faith based job placement agency which uses the money made by its residents to funnel money into the church. Each resident will be paying $1400 a month to live there, and $200 per child. There will be 55 beds. There is a living space of 36 sq.ft per person(prisons are required to have at least 60 sq.ft per person, but TeenChallenge avoids that by not getting a license). You can go down to the balloon tract today and see them at work.So much for giving work to locals huh Mr.Morrisey.But hey, they pay them $10 an hour, which is more than other businesses pay.By the way Fred Lambertson doesn't reside there. He owns a home in Trinidad.

Yeah The lord helps those who help themselves. Lamberson will be owning a bigger home in Trinidad when the money from this scam starts rolling in.
