Your Police Unions At Work

I'm not sure what to think of Senate Bill 1019, the recently killed legislation that would have added more transparency to our law enforcement agencies in regards to accusations of wrongdoing. I don't know enough of the details so will withhold comment.

I am sympathetic, though, to the law enforcement side if only because of the vitriol we've seen on the Humboldt blogs against what seem to be any and all law enforcement personnel.

That said, Steve Greenhut, takes a look at how that bill was killed and makes some good points in regards the process and the law itself. What should be most disturbing is that this isn't just a special case in Sacramento. It happens all the time.

It looks like the cops' unions have learned something from the enviro wackos and gun grabbers.

It seems to me that transparency is good. If you care not to hold the powerful to account, then, libertarian principals are compromised. But, maybe a totalitarian form of government is more to your liking.

That's exactly how Harmony Groves and the rest of the liberal fascists in Arcata like it, no police accountability, no police review, and no questioning whether internal affairs (What a joke) really gets the job done. It's the free fire zone now boys, so get out those nightsticks and beat up some homeless people!

Yes, this one incident is representative of all of the Dark Lord's evil unions. Don't give into sin. Don't join a union. Give your soul to Jesus and his non-union Heaven.

the same nutjob that goes on about how the cops beat up homeless people. The cops caudle the homeless.

Arcata's elite is definitely cheering over this one, now they get to dodge justice for that student. Her only crime was being at Don's Doughnuts at the wrong time.

WTF ? 8:25pm

and fred, what happens all the time?

I remember that case. Girl was beaten and seriously injured by speed-addled cops, unfortunately Rael was her lawyer so naturally nothing happened.

10:37pm what are "speed-addled cops" ? Could you explain that?

Cops should be under greater scrutiny because they are supposed to be better than us.

However, the myth that they are better than us prevails and people look the other way when criminal cops continuously break the law.

Something lacking in all of this is a little historical background. The Peace Officer Bill of Rights has been law since January 1, 1977. It was, haha, supported by none other than the ACLU, and was signed into law by then Governor Edmund G Brown, Jr. (Sound like a familiar name?) It covers personnel matters, not criminal matters, and in no way allows anyone to "look the other way" if a cop breaks the law. That's a whole different matter conveniently forgotten by those (Leno, Romero, etc) pushing their agenda(s).

Cop rights are more equal than human rights, its a mantra repeated over and over by Harmony Groves and the rest of the Arcata Eye bootlickers.

Thank you 1:27pm.

Why is 1:58 PM so down on Harmony Groves? I kind of thought she was one of, or at least on the sidelines with the anti cop crowd?

Please, she skipped out on the vote for police review with a fake excuse, and now says Arcata doesn't need it. She didn't lift a finger when those HSU girls were beaten up for standing in front of Don's or for riding their bikes. So much for feminism.

I think she skipped out of that one for the same reason that Mike Jones had to skip out on the TeenChallenge issue here in Eureka.,a business/client relationship.Anon 3:18,I'm sure is more than willing to go into detail with her "fake excuse"for skipping out.
The one who bit it on police review in Arcata was most likely Dan Hauser who gave some arcane explanation as to why Arcata couldn't adopt it,saying that general law cities cannot do so without a charter.I've never seen that backed up anywhere, unlike voting systems which currently have to be mandated by a charter.

HSU girls beaten up? Talk about revisionist history. Try police assault. How did that one turn out in the legal system? Oh yeah, you spewed complete BS 3:18.

At 8:44 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

(Oh, and to clarify, I mean assault on a police officer.)

Is this the police beating we're talking about? Two HSU students assaulting an officer?

http://thejack.humboldt.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=PagEd&file=index&page_id=164

And HSU staff shamefully defending the students? Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the students plead no contest? Local news archives are mysteriously silent on this point.

Poice Review Board for Arcata ? What a joke. You're down on Harmony G. cause she didn't vote on a particular agenda item, and you don't like her excuse for being absent? What a fucking loser you are.

Stop picking on Mayor Groves or she may send her new lapdog (nick bravo) over to crap on your doorstep.
