Hillary vs. Paul in 2008?

Speaking of the 2008 presidential election- a subject I actually find quite dull at this point in time- I think the race is the democrats to lose. Seems to me the Bush Administration is [rightfully] held in such low regard by most people the dems have a big advantage right from the start.

I say that with a somewhat heavy heart because my gut feeling is Hillary Clinton will end up being the democrat's candidate for president after all is said and done.

No, I don't like her. I think she's both a disgusting person and politician, but I think she'll be the one. I hope I'm wrong and, in the back of my mind, keep hoping she'll have a Paul Wellstone moment one of these times she's flying around the country.

Not too happy with the republican choices, either, with the exception of Ron Paul as I've mentioned before. He won't win the nomination, though.

I was actually thinking that Ron Paul is probably the only one that has a chance of defeating Hillary. He's the only republican that seems to appeal to both the Left and Right, at least to some extent. Probably because he's the only GOP candidate that is strongly against the Iraq war and is willing to stand alone and say it.

With that in mind, I found this commentary a fun read. The writer tells us why Paul is the GOP's best choice. He's right, as far as I'm concerned. Problem is, Paul won't win the nomination. Even if he did, despite feeling he's the republican's best choice, I don't think he'd win against Hillary. Too many people fear liberty.

I hope I'm wrong.

Fred,
You are right about Paul's appeal to the left but on only one issue and that is the "war". When they finally realize what his main agenda is: dismantling the welfare state and returning to the original Constitution they will be off him like a dirty shirt. They hate liberty more than they hate the war and will do the "switch to the bitch" polka in a New York nanosecond IMO.

The power brokers have already decided. It's Clinton vs. Romney, with Romney winning.

A Mormon president? I really don't think that is going to happen.

Ron Paul is the only logical choice at this point.

You must be delusional! When people realize what Paul really stands for they want nothing to do with him. Except for a few right wing zealots, most people want public education, minimum wage and government regulatory agencies. Anyone with 2 brain cells to bounce around understands that without regulations we would all be virtual slaves of the corporations, forced to work for starvation wages without any safety regulations, breathe polluted air and drink nasty water because there wouldn't be anyone to stop them. The only freedom in a Libertarian state is in the grave.

He's baaack. Bloodshot eyes, mouth frothing and both brain cells "bouncing around".

Well Huck, the decision isn't up to you.

You seem to forget that much of the country is now using electronic voting machines without auditable paper trails. Even if UN election observers were allowed at the polls (they were refused last time), they would be useless. It wouldn't matter if every voter told the inspectors how they voted. Solid, unimpeachable exit polling conducted in the two previous elections strongly conflicted with official results in key states, and yet here we are today, things as they are.

Fred and Joy wishing for the Wellstone tragedy is in poor taste. Shame on you!

Wow, I totally missed the Wellstone comment. I know Fred is conservative, but I didn't realize he's an inhumane dick. I'm done with this particular blog.

No shit Freddy , the Wellstone comment was lowbrow -you wish Hillary Clinton would die? And 9:54 you're onto something- the power brokers have chosen Romney bigtime, whoever the f*ck he is.

Rude perhaps, but I'm just being honest. I think Hillary is a piece of shit. The only way she can be prevented from screwing up all our lives is if she dies in a plane crash, or some other venue.

Believe it or not, I'm quite sensitive about death wishes now, being 52 years old. The older you get, the more sensitive you get about death.

Still: Hillary is a very evil person, imo. I can only hope for her demise.

That said, I thought Wellstone was a piece of shit. Then again, he was killed when we needed all the people we could in Congress to oppose the Iraq invasion. At any other time I would have welcomed his demise. I was kind of bummed when he got killed when he was needed for the peace effort.

Then again: Who knows how he would have played out on Iraq, had he not died? He probably would have been akin to the way Hillary is now.

It's going to be a great day when Bill and Hillary go walking back into the White House together. It's my prediction that Hillary will be our next President, Romney has no chance. His religion and plastic nature are huge barriers. He'll never win over Hillary. So, all you Hillary haters need to prepare.

Somehow, it seems appropriate to post it here.

Such comments as Fred's re: Wellstone are outrageous only when spoken of leftists. It is perfectly OK for the leftist Columnist Julianne Malveaux to tell a television audience, "I hope [Thomas’s] wife feeds him lots of eggs and butter, and he dies early, like many black men do, of heart disease. . . ."
Paul Wellstone (Welfare)has the distinction of having a Democrat Party pep rally substituted for his funeral.

What sort of sick and twisted planet do you live on sir?

WHO exactly has spit on our 'liberty' lately?
hmmm?

Spit on our constitution?
Spit on our returning soldiers?
Spit on the middle and lower class?

You need to get away from Fox and Limbaugh for a while.

I served proudly, and met many fine Americans, conservative AND liberal.

Pseudo-intellects like you just create more hate and division.

Neo-cons are your enemy, not your neighbors.

So Fred!
Not that Im a huge fan either, but am wondering just what about Hillary is 'disgusting'?
I know people LOVE to hate her, (though they never have any facts) but she IS sharp, experienced and NOT a neo-con!
We've tried rich white men for centuries.
Aint she worth a try?

What has she done to empower the women's movement?Did Walmart's treatment of female employees better because she served on the board of directors?

You mean it would be no big deal if he made threats against Bush? Bush-it.

This all comes down to making it look okay for Robin Arkley to threaten Councilman Larry Glass with destruction, right? Oh...I get it now.

I don't believe I've threatened anyone. Wishing for someone's demise, in no matter what manner, isn't threatening someone. Saying you're going to take part in that demise yourself is threatening someone.

Answer: THE GOVERNMENT, idiot. Collectivists such as yourself are the enemy.

12:56PM: You mean it would be no big deal if he made threats against Bush?
No, idiot 11:47AM/ 12:56PM. Neither Fred nor Malveaux threatened anyone. Learn to read!!

Comrades,
The Welstone moment WAS the pep rally by the dems. It was very embarrasing for them to use his death to promulgate their sick agenda and hatred of George Bush.
