Screwed Again.

I can't believe this happened again. My trailer got smashed.

Apparently, some gal from Arizona blew the stop sign at our corner, ran into someone driving by, and took off.

She actually stopped and gave some info, but blew the police guy, that called her later, off.

So, looks like now, I might have to buy yet another trailer, without dealing with the insurance company.

I've been ripped off by yet another Lefty.

That sucks!! My amigo over at California and Wabash had the same fortune with his pickup last week. They left him a letter with a # that went to nowhere.
But how'd you figure out that a Lefty ripped you off?

Middle of the road guy with insurance here. You are lucky you got info from her. Anyway, just one minor suggestion:

What did the girl do to the Police Guy??? It's sounds a little naughty the way I read it.

Sorry to read about your misfortune, Fred.

Fred,
You threw this post together too fast. Calm down and tell us what happened.

Indeed, I did.

So, I didn't hear a thing, despite being right here at the computer when it happened. That's maybe 30 feet from where the truck and trailer are parked.

So, all of the sudden the phone rings. It's the sis- in- law, Jeannette Cruz- Matteoli, who lives across the street. She says I better go out front of my house because my trailer has been hit by a car.

I go out there. A Police Service dude is out there writing a report. The one lady that got hit and stuck around is there, too.

So, I'm told that some gal from Arizona ran the Trinity Street stop sign and hit this lady. Not sure who ended up smashing my trailer but somebody did. The trailer is trashed- unsalvageable.

The gal from AZ supposedly stopped to give rudimentary info on herself to the other lady and then says she has to go to take care of her kid back at the hotel, or some such. She's supposedly staying at the Eureka Motel 6.

The Police Service guy calls her on the other lady's cell phone as I'm standing there. He tries to get her to come down and give more info. Apparently, the info she gave was just a AAA membership number, not an insurance account number.

As far as I can tell from listening, she blows the police service guy off. She never comes down to give more info.

I get the police report number from the service guy, but that's about it. I'll see if anything else comes up tomorrow after this gal sobers up (so I'm thinking).

The trailer is wrecked again. This time probably as bad or worse than the last time.

Time for a job that doesn't require a trailer.

Lots of 'trailers wanted" on Craig's List... a few for sale: here's one.

maybe she was ambidextrous and not really a lefty as you surmise. :)

So how did this lady's car make out?

Best wishes and luck with the insurance company. But you know darn well there are no Lefties in Arizona.

You're kidding, right? I mean if insurance were related to political ideoloy, it seems reasonable that those without it would most likely be Libertarians.

I am sorry to hear about the incident, Fred, but I wonder do you consider me a "Leftie"? I want you to know that I carry all kinds of insurance (auto included)and even sell health insurance. Do you want to buy some?

WTF is a "police service guy"? Is he a sworn peace officer trained to investigate traffic incidents and make arrests? It doesn't sound professional to telephone a violator and "request" that they return to the scene. There are probably at least 2 law violations for which citing was warranted. The stop sign violation and leaving the scene of a TC. When you get a copy of the report, determine if there was a proper investigation and if not, raise hell. Sounds like something Erik should help you with "pro bono":o)

Fred I'm afraid it's time to call vehicle abatement for that black junker car that never moves, from the side of the house; that's obviously the place your next trailer belongs. Nobody seems to crash into junkers...And I can't help but wonder how many crimes don't get solved because the police guy gets blown, off.

Sorry about the trailer, Fred, but if she was from Arizona, she's a Republican.

Sorry to hear about that Fred. A lot of strange stuff like that has happened on my mom's street in Arcata. One time someone ran into the garage two houses over, knocking it off of the house. Another time someone ran into the house next door, damaging the foundation.. And earlier this year in Eureka someone ran into my girlfriend's neighbor's parked car, and then proceeded to jump out of the car and run away.

As for your assertion about political views and insurance: I would have to see some numbers before I would believe that. If I were to guess I would say that a lot of people who don't have insurance are apolitical jerks that are inconsiderate of others. I assume that people who are solidly grounded in the Left or the Right - or some other political view - are more likely to have insurance because they are usually the kind of people that think about the well being of others. Of course, I don't really have any evidence either.

Esquan asked, "So how did this lady's car make out?"

The lady that was still there, the one that didn't run the stop sign, her car looked fine to me. How the other gal's car fared, I don't know. She was obviously able to drive it away.

They do have a lady Democrat (Napolitano) for a governor, I believe.

Leonidas asks, "WTF is a "police service guy"?".

Police Services Officers just do th menial police jobs that the regulars don't have time to do like taking reports of misdemeanors and traffic accidents (non- injury). I think they're tagging abandoned cars now, too. The one that took the accident report that night tagged the abandoned car next to my house earlier in the day.

I don't know if they're sworn but they have badges and wear uniforms. They have light blue shirts instead of dark blue as regular officers do.

Oh, and they don't carry guns but carry pepper spray.

Oh, and thanks for the heads up on the trailer, Rose. Turns out Harbor Freight Tools in Arcata had a replacement trailer in stock, for a change. Went up there yesterday morning and picked one up and have it about half put together now.

Today I'll go to the police dept. and get the accident report to see if the lady had insurance. All she gave after the accident was apparently a AAA membership card number, not an insurance policy number.

Fred- Ive always enjoyed your blog,
but;

"a Lefty ripped you off?"

What a stupid and ignorant thing to say.

Sad.

Just having some fun. What...no sense of humor?

See, lefties: Not only do they have no insurance, they don't have a sense of humor, either.

At 12:50 PM, Blogger Carol said...

Fred, I am glad to see the comments. I was a fraid you were mad at me or something. Rose told me on Heraldo's that you were not mad at me and that you were experiencing some problems with blogger.

I have AAA auto insurance. The towing part of AAA is separate from the auto insurance part. It probably would be a good idea to follow up with a phone call to the EPD.

At 1:33 PM, Blogger Fred Mangels said...

Looks like comments might be working right now since I got this last one in my inbox.

Thanx, Carol. Went down to EPD. I guess it takes a while to get copies of the report. They said it would cost $5.00 and they'd call me when it was ready, so, still don't know if the AZ gal had insurance, or not.

At 1:59 PM, Blogger Carol said...

I hope they tell you if she has auto insurance or not before you have to pay $5 for the police report.

Oh now really Fred- You dont want
me to start giving you my favorite list of 'How many right-wingers does it take to screw in a light-bulb' jokes, now do you?

I mean really dude, you're on shaky ground here..........;-)

Perhaps Fred is, as usual, just confused. When the woman claimed to the officer that she had "left" her insurance card in Arizona Fred assumed she was making a political statment.
