Dems Fault For Gas Prices?

Interesting suggestion in a letter to the editor to the Santa Rosa Press- Democrat this morning:

"The first six years in office with President Bush, gas prices stayed about the same. Then the Democrats took control of the House and Senate and the price of gas doubled, almost tripled."
- Tom Meininger, Cotati

I think there's a number of reasons for high gas prices and it's not hard to make connections like that with any group and issue. Still, it's an interesting observation.

During the first six years of the Bush administration, I had a spotless driving record. But after the Dems took over I got popped for speeding. Those damn Democrats!

To blame only the Democrats for gas price events of the last 2 years is total bullshit. Politicians in both of the major parties have colluded in this situation. The votes of both McPain and Jug ears have brought us to this pass. While sitting on major energy resources, the US Congress has chosen to place most of them off limits for exploitation. Those resources' eventual depletion over time has been shortened artificially by legislative fiat thus resulting in the present painful cost spike. Instead of allowing long term depletion and cost increases to encourage development of alternatives, the enviros have opted to artificially restrict supply. We are now to rely on government fiat to force alternatives into the breach. Good luck and welcome to the wonderful world of your friendly DMV.

Also, the enviro allegation repeated in the MSM that it will take !0 years to bring new offshore and Alaskan energy sources to the gas pump is total bullshit. The time between the development of the Prudhoe oilfield on the north slope of Alaska and oil flowing to the terminals in Valdez was two years in the 1970s including the construction of an 800 mile pipe line over the most difficult territory on the planet.

During the first six years of the Bush administation I was younger than I am now. Since the Dems took over, I've gotten older and closer to death.

Re: "Dems Fault For Gas Prices"

It seems that one of them 'Dems' wants to improve our rail transportation system. While the rest of the world depends on rail transportation, the good old USA likes TRUCKs. Trucks, trucks, trucks & more trucks.

See

talks up high speed rail, Amtrak

I hope that html link works - never tried it before on a blog.

"Dems Fault For Gas Prices"

Thats the most ignorant headline in a long time-

It comes down to 2 things only:
the market speculators, and the White House.

Im not happy with the Dems, but I am sick as hell of all the lying from the Repubs.

Oil prices are high because our government has printed several trillions of dollars in the last several years to prop up the stock market.

The dollar is worth less than half of what it was worth just a couple years ago and it will go lower.

The inflation of our money supply for the benefit of a few rich cronies is criminal theft from us, our children, and the rest of the world and the rest of the world's children. George Bush will be remembered forever as a criminal of the first order.
