Quail Line Expanding?

Not sure just what is meant by this item in this week's Humboldt Beacon. Maybe someone can help me out.

The title says the shuttle that takes people from Eureka to Fortuna and Garberville is expanding. I was under the impression it had been suspended, or they were thinking of suspending that ride. Is this actually an expansion, or just a continuation of service?

Oh boy! Lucky you guys! The Quail is to bus travel as staying in the Red Lion is to staying in Motel 5.

The Quail is the standard all community buses should strive for. It's a nice vehicle and the service is nothing at all like the Sheriff's attitude of local HRT bus drivers dealing with teenagers mainly. Teebs make bus travel suck on the regular lines--they are noisy and rude.

Ooops. Mixed the two web pages up. I try and remember to check them both on Fridays.

Read,Read,Read.

They were talking about discontinuing it because it hasn't met the minimum farebox collection to be eligible for Federal subsidy.

The "service" is expanded since it will now be available to serve everyone. Not just elderly and disabled. Maybe that will bring the fairbox collections up to where it meets the minimum.

The county needs to expand the RTS network down to SoHum. It's ridiculous not to have a real county bus network.
