The Wiggins Affair

The North Coast Journal already covered this and there's been coverage in some local papers. The Santa Rosa Press- Democrat published this editorial on the issue yesterday. I guess I should throw in my two cents worth on our very own State Senator, Pat Wiggins, gaffe in a committee meeting the other day.

A lot of people are all upset about her telling someone testifying at the committee meeting she felt his arguments were "bullshit". Well, as you can imagine, that doesn't bother me all that much. I'm much more concerned that she apparently feels that way in regards to the guy's arguments that poorer people were affected much more negatively than others by some global warming legislation the committee was considering.

It's hard to say whether the senator actually wasn't concerned with how the legislation affected people in the poorer communities or she felt, somehow, the guy disagreed with her views on global warming and went off on the guy for that. Seems to me that dismissing the guy for testimony she didn't like should be the real concern.

As far as there being a medical problem with Senator Wiggins, who knows? I suppose the people do have a right to have some idea of what might be wrong with their State Senator. My gut feeling, just from what I've read, is maybe early onset of Alzheimer's Disease, or something along that line, and I don't say that in jest. I've known a few people with Alzheimer's. One thing in common with all of them is they started having problems recognizing people. Senator Wiggins seems to be having such problems.

Something seems to be changing her behavior. I suppose we'll find out eventually.

You're right, Fred. Alzheimer's Disease is most likely the correct diagnosis. I'm surprised it's taken the local media this long to catch on. They should've recognized the warning signs during Wiggins incredibly laughable debate performance in 2006. Wiggins is 69 years old, but apparently has early onset dementia of some kind.

I was wondering what age AD generally shows up at. I have a customer now who has it and I started exhibiting symptoms maybe 3 years ago, as best I recall, and she's well over 70 I'm pretty sure.

I checked this site
http://tinyurl.com/6xwrto
and it says AD affects 1 in 10 people over age 65. Scary. I guess Wiggins is in the right age bracket.

Don't be too quick to diagnose dementia. Senator Wiggins is almost profoundly hard of hearing. I get the impression is is getting worse and she may not be dealing with it well. It would be very frustrating to reach the peak of your life, really doing well, and not be able to hear. She mispronounces names because she doesn't hear them. With no dis-respect to the perfectly fine term "bullshit", I hope Senator Wiggins is taking care of herself.

I'm sorry, where did you folks get your medical degrees again, I missed that part? How about we all take a step back, take the bullshit incident as what it was, a poor choice of words and give the lady a break.

"I get the impression is is getting worse and she may not be dealing with it well.".

That could well be possible.

"How about we all take a step back, take the bullshit incident as what it was, a poor choice of words and give the lady a break.".

Except there's more to this than the bullshit incident, at least according to news reports. The Santa Rosa Press- Democrat has had one editorial and at least two stories on Senator Wiggins' supposed behavioral changes and the SRP-D is pretty sympathetic to Democrats so I don't see that as a partisan attack.

I'll have to say that with her staff and other Wiggins supporters insisting there's nothing wrong, it leads me to further speculation that something might well be wrong.

Bottom line is, there's no way of knowing just what's going on and we'll just have to sit back and let the situation develop.

Fred, you're just a little foul mouthed gossip queen.

Pat is profoundly arrogant.

She has a longstanding reputation for shooting (her mouth off) first and asking questions later.

If she has a disability and she does, then she should decide whether or not she can do the job. Clearly she can't. She has a good staff that carries her through many of these types of situations. Being a regularly walking embarrassment, she still does a better job and has a better reputation than Patty Berg.

The BS comment is not uncommon....but the context and being seemingly unaware that the cameras were rolling should have afforded all of us some relief from the political bondage that our reps subject us to.

Maybe it is a health issue - and maybe she was calling bullshit on the whole 'global warming' hoax - or maybe she is calling bullshit on the new tactic of declaring that 'global warming' is harder on blacks and the poor so as th make it all the more difficult for anyone to question or criticize 'global warming.' Now, if you dare, you are 'a racist@!' who doesn't care about the poor and unfortunate.

I agree with Pat! "Bullshit!"

In fact is it is all the warmistas who are jumping up to pass more and more and more legislation in the name of the global warming cult, showing just how caring and efficient they can be that are going to hurt all segments of society. They are the new flat earthers, Kennedy's own words turned back on himself, exactly what he is.

Wiggins works hard and she may be fed up with all the BULLSHIT. With all due respect to Penn&Teller

Wiggins has Alzheimer's. She should retire, but is way too arrogant to do so. Why do these politicians keep getting put back in to office? Embarrassing.

Do you know that for sure, or are you just taking my gut feeling and running with it?
