2009: Looking Ahead

I don't have high hopes for the future. Maybe the doomsayers are right and we'll be facing Armageddon soon? With the coming of 2009, it's probably a good time to look ahead.

In any case, it doesn't hurt to be prepared. You might want to start looking now and trying to figure out how you can buy one of these survival vehicles. Better to have one and not need one than need one and not have one.

If you end up buying one and Armageddon happens, don't forget to pick me up on the way out of town.

Oh, and thanks to lewrockwell.com for the link.

Looks too much like a Mad Max movie for me.

I didn't see MPG ratings.

That's what I was wondering: What kind of mileage they get?

That, and how much they cost?

I suppose you could outfit one with a nuclear power plant like they did in that one movie from yesteryear. The one where most of the surface life of the planet got wiped out from some disaster and those guys drive around in the super vehicle looking to find ways to restore civilization. John Saxon was in it, but I can't remember the name.

The movie might have been Genesis 2, although Saxon played in two other similar ones described here:

My memory might be mixing the 3 of them together. Fun movies, though, I thought.

I'm sure that there will be plenty of fuel conveniently available for these gas-guzzling crackpots when "Armageddon" comes.

As for the state of the nation, the world, and the future, if you voted for Bush/Cheney even once you don't have any business complaining.

I was going to reject the above comment as it is off- topic and, if nothing else, I'm sick of hearing so many miscreants blaming Bush for everything.

Was listening to KMUD yesterday and they did a segment on the dismal situation is Zimbabwe. The supposed authority on the country eventually tried to tie Mugabe's land grabs and starvation of his people to Bush. I was astonished.

This blog will not be a party to baseless accusations against anyone.

The Wothahellizat....Yep that'll be my vehicle and home in about 20 years.Hope there's enough ethanol left to run it on by then though!!Anyways,I'm sure I'll have it figured out how I can set up a grow room, and produce some hemp in it by then. But if not,I'll blame it on Jeb Bush, who will likely be our president then.

I like your attitude, Fred. Not engaging in unfounded, unfair character assassination is a good thing.

As much as I have disliked Bush over the years, there's one thing nobody seems to give him any credit for.

We haven't had another attack by radical America-hating Muslims since September 11, 2001.

Does everybody think that is just a happy accident? Do they think the Islamic Hate-mongers suddenly starting loving America?

Or is it just possible that Bush really has protected us from those mass-murderers?

Yes. I think it is possible.

Yes, possible. But it's not really fair to try to prove something didn't happen.

We might not have had any mainland attacks even with someone else at the helm. No way of knowing.

And 9/11 may not have happened with someone else at the helm. The administration knew about the plans for a pending attack, yet did nothing to prevent them. Why should I trust that they wouldn't allow another one to happen?Katrina wasn't a terrorist attack, yet thousands died, partly due to incompetence of the Bush administration, amongst a myriad of other things.

Keep in mind that the planning for the WTC attacks were made some time before Bush came into office. There were any number of people speculating about possible attacks but most didn't take the speculation seriously.

As an aside, below is a news item I just found about Bush's personal side. Some of which surprises me:

Sorry,at this moment I can't muster reading any further after seeing this line here:
"Bush demands punctuality and disdains inefficiency."
Huh.....Mr."Heck of a job,Brownie."
Well, once my stomach gets better,I'll go back and read the whole thing through.

I can see it now. People on horseback and driving wagons and pony carts will call out to people who are stuck by the side of the road, out of gas, out of hope, and they will call out "Get a Horse!"

Thus will we see history repeat itself.
