Doug Thron: Libertarian?

Doug Thron; Isn't he the Green Party guy that ran for state assembly a while back? From the look of his letter in today's Times- Standard, he sounds more along the lines of a libertarian. What gives?

I recognized the name, but didn't remember who he was until I read your post. Now I remember, didn't he have a red corvette?

Yes, I believe he had a red corvette and raised some ire amongst the Greens for having a campaign billboard up alongside the safety corridor between Eureka and Arcata.

Poor guy was out of his league. Lots of problems, as I recall. The billboard was only one of them.

Pretty, like Dan Hamburg, though.

He also made a video, "The Making of An Awesome General Lee."

Hot stuff.

Funny transformation that occurs when progs actually get a job and start paying taxes.

I have always been fiscally conservative, yet environmentally and socially progressive which is also part of being fiscally conservative as well. They are all linked. If you have a screwed up environment and human population it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that it will cost you more financially in the long run.
I started work at age 10 mowing lawns and selling golf balls and have owned about 10 different businesses. I have been working ever since and I don't mind paying taxes but want my money to be used wisely NOT WASTED. The best way to help the economy is to allow people to keep more of their money to spend not give it away to banks, insurance companies, credit card companies, etc... this would allow the private to create more jobs. If there is a need for a product or service the private sector will come up with it so long as they aren't taxed too much.
The Greens didn't have a problem with my billboard on the side of the hwy (one that had been there for 30 years). It was the Democrats that did and drew attention to it instead of the issues. Also, my green corvette that I had was another thing they whined about which was even dumber since it was a 6 speed vette and got over 30 mpg on the hwy. The red car I had was a 71 Chevelle convertible. Their diversion is still working since you all are still talking about it years later... and not the $8 trillion being stolen from us all right now. Unbelievable. Am I the only true fiscal conservative left in this town?! Where are all of your letters to the editor pissed off about this stealing of our money.

The fiscal mess we are in can only be solved by stopping the cycle of bailing out these failed banks and corporations. If I make a dumb ass business decision no one bails me out and rightfully so. So why is it that when a bank or insurance company makes a dumb decision I have to bail them out?
About 7 years ago I told everyone, the shit is going to
hit the fan with all these millions of interest only loans on all these homes that people can't afford since eventually they are going to have to pay principal and interest in their payments... and guess what... here we are. The banks and mortgage companies and our government knew this was going to cause a major financial failure since obviously the housing market couldn't just keep going up.
When I ran for office, there were 9 debates and during all of them, you can hear me clearly speaking out as a REAL fiscal conservative not a wanna be one. No more bailouts!

I can agree with that. No more bailouts. In fact, let's unleash government to track down the wealthy and powerful thieves and extract their stolen wealth from them. After all, it never really was THEIR wealth. It was OUR wealth that they stole from us.

Well, I agree, Doug. No more bailouts! And they have to stop this mad spending spree they're embarking on. It's insane.

For what it's worth, I thought the beef with the billboard was pretty ridiculous. Nothing wrong with a billboard.

I apologize,Doug, for remembering the car incorrectly. So it was a 71Chevelle convertible? Greg and I just gave our 1997 Red Chrysler Sebring Convertible to one of his sons, and it is still a champ of a car.

It seems to me that what the government needs to do is to stimulate the economy with jobs to improve our decaying infrastructure. There needs to be accountability to all the looting that occured the last 8 years in the former administration. I can't wait to see Carl Rove arrested and in hand cuffs.
