The Brooks Kick- Off

I didn't attend Karen Brooks' campaign kick- off yesterday. After reading that it started of with the Pledge of Allegiance and an invocation, I'm glad I didn't. I hate both the Pledge and prayers.

I assigned Rose to go there and report on it for the local blogosphere but she disobeyed and didn't go. Did anyone reading attend? The Times- Standard reports there were "several dozen" people attending.

Is that accurate? Just curious. I ragged on Mike Hislop's campaign kick- off when they reported several dozen at that event and I was pretty sure there were far less. Might as do the same for the Brooks event, except I suspect she had more people show up than Hislop did.

Oh, and Joy Finley tells me there were around 800 people attending the Tea Party at the courthouse but KIEM TV only reported 100. Anybody attending want to make their own guesstimate of how many people were there?

Joy Finley said 800.
She's some counter that Joy is. The protest must have been several blocks long.

BTW, what is her relationship with Michael Finley who now sits on the Democratic Central Committee?

I would have liked to have gone, but had another appointment - I like Karen - have known her since the late 70s or early 80s. She's smart and talented. And she has a good point. The state is broken - and broke - and it is time to fix it. And the incumbents have nowhere to hide.

The Tea Party protest had 400-500.

And I agree that Karen is a good person and a great candidate who needs to regularly remind people that Chesbro presided over the tanking of the CA budget in his prior role as Chair of the CA Senate Budget Committee and part of the so-called Big-5 budget negotiation team.

There were quite a few people at the Tea Party but had to leave early and people were still showing up.

There was over 100 that came to Karen's event. The press shows up for a short while then swags their report. Good event, good energy and a necessary start to correcting the damage an idiot like Chees Bro has inflected upon Ca.

I always laugh hard while at the same time am forced to shake my head in wonder when teabaggers rip on anything socialist, yet adhere ardently to certain Socialist dogmas. How many of those 100 or so in attendance were aware that the pledge was written by a card carrying Socialist?
Did she also lead all in a rendition of Socialist Arlo Guthries' "This Land Is Your Land"which is frequently sung at tea party gatherings?

Have to say more than 100 maybe a little over 200, but I didnt stop to count noses. Kind of surprising 'who' was there-I only went because my boss asked nicely.
