This Should Be Ilegal

Not shooting videos of police, as Radley Balko describes, but arresting people for shooting videos of police.

More incidents listed here.

The great hope for the rest of the police in America to become as good as the ones we have in Eureka is the proliferation of video cameras in phones, etc. Cameras the cops can't see. Because in most places, if an officer sees a citizen with a camera, the officer tells the citizen to put the camera away. And if they don't, all hell breaks loose. Cops don't like their pictures taken, even when the work they are doing is great. Think how much they must hate to have their work video'd when they are doing things that are illegal or immoral! Oh, wait! I watch Cops on TV. Police officers never do anything illegal or immoral!

I have read accounts every now and then of Eureka Police officers telling people to turn off cameras, or put them away. Don't know that I've heard of anyone being detained or arrested for cameras locally, though.

Looks like Radley picked up on your link here or somewhere else, AJ. He included it his "Sunday Links" post today.

What about the theory that if you video a potential crime that video becomes EVIDENCE? Evidence subject to seizure?

What kind of people have the time and means to follow cops around to take video of them? Copwatch? Boy those Copwatch people don't like their photos taken, they wear masks.
