Comparing State Costs

The San Jose Mercury News has a short piece comparing various costs of California's government with those of four other states. Scroll down for links to the individual category comparisons.

That's a comparison of state spending, not state costs.

Imagine you compare your spending on gasoline with your buddy in Montana. If you drive the same distance in the same model car as your buddy, your spending will still be a LOT higher than your buddy's spending. If you didn't know better, you'd think he drives a lot less than you. The newspaper's data doesn't tell us anything unless they give us context.

What? Because I used the wrong word? If I wold have used spending instead of costs, you wouldn't have had a comment to make.

As far as climate change, our beliefs might not be too far apart. I believe, as I'm guessing you do, that the earth might get colder or warmer over time. You just think it's man caused. I think man's affect on climate is insignificant.

Fred's right, as will be proven. But, That's no reason to pollute the planet. Fish and species are disappearing and can provably be man caused. Too many people on the planet is woman caused.
