GO Gary Johnson

Radley Balko reports all Republican candidates for president are being asked to sign a "Family Leader Pledge". Former Governor of New Mexico, Gary Johnson, is the first to say he won't sign it. I can't help but love the guy for it. I'm with Radley: How many others will have to guts to say no? Probably none.

It never ceases to amaze me how Republicans feel they always have to bring up something to try and appease the Religious Right. Will they never learn?

Fred, the Republican Party is now led by the religious right. In a majority of states, they cannot win without the Evangelical vote.

In short: anti-abortion, anti-gays, anti-science, pro-prayer in schools. Those are prerequisites for most Republican candidates.

Fred, I am a conservative, and would never consider voting for someone who didn't sign this pledge. I am a conservative because they support my Christian Faith. Period.

I don't think a president should be involved in supporting religion of any kind. That said, I suppose most people vote for candidates that support their agenda, whether religious or otherwise.

Still, bad move on the Republican Party's part, in my opinion. The Religious Right may be a large part of their base, but that won't appeal to most folks. At least I'd like to think it won't.

"Homosexual acts are an abomination to God." Leviticus 18:22.

"If a man has sex with another man, kill them both." Leviticus 20:13.

Don't wear clothes made of more than one fabric. Leviticus 19:19

Don't cut your hair nor shave. Leviticus 19:27

Any person who curses his mother or father must be killed. (Leviticus 20:9

If a man cheats on his wife, or vise versa, both the man and the woman must die. Leviticus 20:10

If a man has sex with a woman on her period, they are both to be "cut off from their people" Leviticus 20:18

Psychics, wizards, and so on are to be stoned to death. Leviticus 20:27

Anyone who curses or blasphemes God, should be stoned to death by the community. Leviticus 24:14-16

Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that [shall be] an abomination unto you Leviticus 11:12

No tattoos. Leviticus 19:28

Tell me again, why should Christians be taken seriously? They cherry pick Bronze Age superstitions and hatred to hold up as gospel while ignoring most of what their alleged god commands of them. Christians have no basis for being taken seriously, except for the threat they pose to a peaceful society.

Agreed, but I'd include Muslims in that, too.

"I know of no society in recorded history that ever suffered because its people became too reasonable." -Sam Harris

"The president of the United States (George Bush) has claimed, on more than one occasion, to be in dialogue with God. If he said that he was talking to God through his hairdryer, this would precipitate a national emergency. I fail to see how the addition of a hairdryer makes the claim more ridiculous or offensive." --Also Sam Harris
