Humboldt Eagle Cam Up & Running
For those that haven't heard, some folks put a web cam on an eagle's nest so we can watch them raise their young. I forget the exact location but it's somewhere near the bay. No eagles in the nest when I looked but one gal in the comments said she saw one. Pretty neat, but what's with the advertisement you have to watch first?

What's with the advertisement? Nice things cost money. We either extract the money from advertisers, or decide something is for the public good and the government pays for it.
Understood. Just surprised as we've never had commercials with any of the other web cams we've had up here.
One of the ads looked like it used the same ad-displaying mechanism that Youtube recently began using... a video ad before they stream your desired video, with an option to skip after a few seconds. Except, some of the ads don't have a skip option.
I'm guessing that when Youtube began using this sort of ad, the practice became kosher for everyone.
I can't get into the Eagle Cam because the video quality is atrocious, even at its small default size. I like to pipe a quality stream to my TV and have a window into a different world.
I like the Backyard Galah Cam in Charlestown, Australia. It's not as exciting now (new owner), but used to be two cams on a tranquil covered porch in the middle of nowhere, always with its owner somewhere in the vicinity doing nothing except enjoying the day, occasionally heard tossing out bird seed. It was wonderful to catch it at dawn.
I have yet to see an eagle on this cam and I keep checking it. I even checked it this morning right before the sun came up. Anybody know when eagles wake up in the morning? Do they sleep in the nest?
WE SAW IT! WE SAW IT!
Just saw an eagle in the nest about 8:40am. It had a stick and was adding it to the nest. Then it flew off.
