Yikes! Earthquake

Just felt a decent jolt. It frightened me as earthquakes always do. Hope that's all there is.

"Henchman Of Justice" says,

Ya, felt a jolt, then looked out the window. It was a vehicle driving on the road surface that was paved over topsoil - typical county pavement work, inferior and half-assed. Homes shake rattle and roll because public works departments do half-ass projects because they don't want to spend the encessary money they don't have, not to mention politics and other rubbish.

HOJ, have you thought of moving to a more remote location? Being right on the main drag seems to cause you grief and aggravation.

Rose,

Nah Rose, just reciprocating the thoughts of many neighbors on a main arterial road where major problems exist because tax dollars are not spent correctly or effectively. Take a walk along the road sometime when a semi-tractor tralior comes through, bet ya feel it. Now, good thing that new construction for homes gets down to clay level (or should be) as compared to all those older homes along the road.

Being on the main drag causes the county grief, actually, because they must finangle around property owners who have legitimate infrastructure concerns. No worry though Rose, enough property owners just love their fertile soils, more acreage than dinky subdivisons, warmer weather, less wind, etc.... Noise ain't nothing either other than rush hours. In that area, nothing else really can be developed that would take away what currently exists as "land features".

Actually, the native indigenous Table Bluff tribe (???, not 100% sure) made their ceremonial grounds across the street for a reason - the land is pristine, a waterfall exists nearby, Mill Creek watershed (when neighbors not violating the SMA - we've been there before), etc...

As far as the county, the public works is majorly underfunded (you know this too) BUT it does not mean the projects that are accomplished can't be done right 100% for what the project is for and NOT what is being eliminated from devlopment improvements for any various reasons.

In the neighborhood, when the project to widen Central is completed, it would be nice if the county creates a maintenance schedule because what is a bike lane or sidewalk that causes bikers to drop and walkers to trip or walkers playing chicken running across the road.

Kinda normal stuff, really. Just hoping that the same ole half ass work ain't gonna be the case in the future improvements along the "MOST IMPORTANT ROAD THROUGH TOWN".

Enjoy Rose,

HOJ
