The Hitler Mystery

Fun Sunday reading for those of you that enjoy historical mysteries. This story about Hitler not dying in the Berlin bunker has some items I'd never seen before.

I'd missed this story from The Guardian about DNA test taken on Hitler's supposed remains that claims they couldn't be his.

This link here takes you to a whole bunch of FBI documents regarding the search for Hitler. One person in particular, along with some others, claim he ended up escaping by submarine to Argentina. I've heard that one before. Two submarines were involved, so the fellow says. Whole bunch of documents there. The handwritten ones are hard for me to read. The typed ones only a bit less so, especially with all the names blacked out.

Might be interesting for mystery buffs. It is to me, but I have a hard time dismissing the eyewitness statements from those present in Hitler's bunker the last few days and hours that say he killed himself. As far as the DNA evidence, maybe the Russians dug up the wrong body? And what about those supposed two submarines used to sneak them to Argentina? Wouldn't some of the crew have told their story?

Addendum: As an aside, one thing that always puzzled me is how just dousing someone with gasoline and setting them on fire would destroy as much of the body as is being claimed happened to Hitler. I understand it takes hours to cremate a body at 2000 degrees in a crematorium. If they just poured gas on Hitler and lit him on fire, seems to me there would have been a lot more left when they found the remains.

What say you?

According to more than a few US politicians and pundits of a certain persuasion, Hitler presently resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Washington,DC. We need Darrell 'The Match' Issa to investigate that mystery more thoroughly, sparing no expense. Just take it all out of the SS fund. Now that would be ironic wouldn't it?

more truth than fiction there, lot's of tiny germans creeping around in American submarines; and don't forget the Whales branch of the royal bastards.

Fred, at the end of your post you suppose the most likely explanations... the skull was the wrong skull and people making other claims are just nutjobs (there's no shortage of nutjobs in the world).

Still, I would relish Hitler spending his last days in Argentina surrounded by non-Aryans that disgust him. How fitting an end. Death is too good an end. He deserved torture.

What if Hitler, on his dying bed, professed his love for Christ? He may be up in Heaven right now according to most Christians. Real Christians know that it takes kind actions to get into Heaven, but it amazes me how many people think just saying you believe will get you in.

I don't think it's wise to judge anyone re entry into heaven. That's God's business and really, if an omnipotent God can't fix anyone's soul regardless of damage, then that's no omnipotent God. Revenge is a stupid choice if damage goods can be repaired. Along this vein, btw, how does anyone here feel about the latest German Nazi youth to be found and sent back for prosecution by zealots catering to Jewish revenge religious beliefs? This latest guy was 17 years old when committing his guard duties and now at age 89 the U.S. is deporting him for prosecution. I say there are thousands of U.S. kids the same age who have committed atrocities against civilians in the Vietnam, and Gulf War (remember the 100,000 men cooked to death in our strafing runs) and in Iraq to make what these German Nazi youth did seem like kid's play. But they won't be prosecuted because they didn't kill my people and Judaism is unforgiving as Christ found out.
