Homeless: Who Is Responsible

The Times- Standard reports on last night's Eureka City Council meeting. They were planning on making some headway toward the homeless situation on the bay. No real action taken by Times- Standard's deadline. I suspect there wasn't any action taken by the end of the night.

I found of interest City Manager Greg Sparks' contention the homeless situation isn't really the city's responsibility:

I believe this is primarily a state and federal issue to resolve,” he said.

I'm not sure I've heard that before. About the only concern I have with it is what if some time up the road the state and federal governments come out and say it's local government's responsibility?

Interesting. There are so many people who complain about wanting to take local control, rather than to leave our affairs in the hands of the folks in Sacramento and Washington, yet here is a problem which just screams “local”—there’s nothing more local than a guy taking a dump in your flower bed—and people are trying to push it off on somebody else. I don’t get it.

Perhaps the "homeless" are the joint responsibility of Fed, State and local governance?

What are the Feds doing? Obama admin has allocated more funds for homeless veterans and perhaps, a few other programs, but don't look to congress (the main budget wielders)for any help. They all live in electrified-gated communities and are more intent on "strangling government" - your libertarian and neo-con bros, Fred - and deregulating their financial donor's industries. Maybe a tax break for the homeless? Yeah, that's the ticket, attached to a bigger tax cut for themselves: see Bush3 and Trump's tax plans.

The State has just given a $500k grant to local health and human services agency to help, didn't they?

Local? Crickets. Except for the loud chirpings of disgruntled residents who want the homeless moved along and outta here, like yesterday. How about Indian Island? Seems like a natch.

Who has unconstitutionally put themselves in charge of air, water, food, Meds, land, minerals, jobs, transportation, housing, education, healthcare, and every aspect that belongs to the people? Once that is answered, the truth will be set free.

$500,000 of taxpayers money is a lot? I beg to differ.
This is a lot:
