Citizen's United Effort Fails

Just got the following e-mail from the folk trying to raise money to overturn the Citizen's United decision. It looks like they failed, although there might be some time left:

'Fred, this is the email we don’t want to send you tomorrow.

But unless we turn things around, it’s going to become reality. With just hours to go, we still need 316 donors to hit 1,OOO,OOO donations to End Citizens United."

I'm delighted.

This effort was spearheaded by David Cobb and Democracy Unlimited Humboldt County. The office was on M Street in Eureka. He left the host position of Thursday Night Talk on KHSU to focus on Citizens United. I have not hear any reports from his with regard to this subject.

There are two very different groups... End Citizens United and Move to Amend.

Anyhow, that e-mail, if correctly quoted, makes no sense to me. Neither group should have a magic dollar value it needs to hit to continue its efforts.

Move to Amend has gotten a proposition on California's November ballot, and 5 other states are already on board to move forward on a 28th amendment to the constitution.

If "failure" is to be just 316 donations short of 1,000,000 donations, that's a "failure" I could live with!

;)
