That Brexit Thing

The internet circles I hang in are abuzz today over Brexit- that's Great Britian's decision to leave the European Union(EU). I say good for jolly old England but am surprised at how many oppose that decision, including at least one of my nephews an a  niece. My advice to them: Leave British affairs to the British. At least one of them gave that comment  a Facebook Like.

Over at Redwood Coast Business, Julie Timonns is grieving the EU's "failure". I can only guess that Julie'ie's feelings derive from her overall sympathy for unions. That and the preference for centralized control.

The others? i'm not sure why independence has gone so out of favor nowadays.I"not sure I can come up with ny examples where indpendence has turned out worse than dependence after all was said and done.

Our independence from England has worked out ok over time, depending on who you ask.

Ia Scotland any worse off since they declared independence from England last(?) year? I haven't heard anything about that.

Addendum: Reason magazine thinks brexit could a win- win for both England and Europe

Just this: Two World Wars.

The Common Market and its follow-up, the European Union, has kept the peace for over 70 years in an area well noted for it's historical near constant state of war.

Argue the economics all you like... and sing the song of "Freedom" too if you wish. But I for one do not look forward to a repeat of European economic and military alliances turning the clock back to 1914 (the war contemporaries said could not happen because everyone had so much to loose).

Other European nations now have their own "Exit" parties ramping up to full gear. Given the stakes, yes "Brexit" is a big deal for everyone.

Oops, forgot...

Scotland is not an independent country. They voted last year to remain a part of the United Kingdom.

They do have more autonomy than they had in the past, that is true. And since Scotland voted overwhelmingly to stay in the EU there is renewed discussion for another vote to secede.

Just a FYI.

Check out the age brackets of those who voted to leave vrs those who wanted to remain.
The former was largely composed of older farts, like you, Fred, who's days on this earth are shorter than the overwhelmingly younger voters who wanted to stay.
Pretty much says it all doesn't it. Just like the old, mostly white farts, on the Trump bandwagon and some of their skinhead sons.

Same regarding global warming. Grandparent class really doesn't give a shit about their grandchildren or the earth that they will be left with when grandpa dies, because grandpa is sooo much wiser. Right. The grandkids will piss on their graves.

Those who voted to leave, were mostly in the non brainwashed or indoctrinated yet, age groups.
Those who voted to stay & rely on big grandpa to save them from themselves, were from the indoctrinated & heavily brainwashed groups.
So, what does Obama do? Threatens to stop fair trade, plus attacks Medicare by threatening to gut Medicare. (that WE paid into all our lives). Same horse puckey he pulled with states over the Trannie bathrooms & the Veterans over self defense rights, etc.
Good for the UK for busting on through to the other side!!! Let's hope Germany follows speedily, like they want to. Let's hope Senator Rogers, Paul, Massie & the rest of the gang get the U.N. Defunded too, like they've been trying. The media never reports on it, you have to go to their sites to learn about this.
Btw, have you all yet seen the press release by Phillip Haney & Ex-congresswoman Michele Bachman? Whistleblowers not so anonymous anymore. Even the press is starting to yawn upon awakening, but too little too late... Or is it?
