That National Anthem Thing

The country has been aghast over that Kaepernick/ national anthem thing. Eyebrows are raised again over the Bronco's Brandon Marshall kneeling while the national anthem was being played, at least they are over at the Santa Rosa Press- Democrat.

I say good for the two of them if only because the national anthem, and its cousin the Pledge of Allegiance are simply expressions of blind nationalism- the old My country, right or wrong type of thinking, although in these two instances that wasn't likely anywhere close to what they were thinking.

As for me, will I end up sitting during either the Pledge of Allegiance or National Anthem? Probably not as I'd avoid being put in that position in the first place.

It does get awkward, though, when you end up in such situations unexpectedly. I recall the last time, although I can't remember what the exact occasion was. All of the sudden we're asked to stand for the pledge of allegiance.

I stood, but didn't recite the pledge while the fellow next to me, a friend, dutifully recited it out loud. I could hear him as I stood there silently and had to wonder why an adult would play that game? He seemed so serious about it.

It's all just distraction while the politicians sneak more bad news onto the people & the countries position for battle.
As far as the respect to the flag that represents liberty, not government, I can understand why so many spit on it. Gimme govt or gimme death said no founding father ever.

One of the most dangerous things we can do as Americans is to fail to question what our country is doing and attempt to fix things when the country drifts off the path it should be following.

Blind allegiance leads to things like Hitler's Germany.

Francis Scott key, the patriot who wrote the SPB in Baltimore Harbor during War of 1812 was also a Va. slave owner. And a pissed off slave owner at that.

Quite a few slaves, especially in the Chesapeake Bay area of Md. and Va. left their masters and joined with the British who promised them free passage to the West Indies and Nova Scotia, which, the British actually honored.

The 3rd verse of the SSB, which we never hear (the first is bad enough) betray Key's true feelings at that time:

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps’ pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave,
From the terror of flight and the gloom of the grave;
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free, and the home of the brave!

Kinda makes one wonderwhen, exactly, was America so great that we want to return to that time, again?

The Chineese fought the British opium trade. The American pioneers fought the British slavery trade. They escaped slavery by the king & began a new country based on moral code of conduct. Americans ironed the kinks out & prospered to the amazement and awe of countries around the world. This also scared the heebie jeebies out of the commies, marixists, & fascists around the globe. It didn't take long for them to infiltrate & sabotage our once independent & growingly awesomer nation.
Today, we have to fight the (British?) Oligarchy indoctrinating our schools, revising our documented history, taxing us beyond belief, criminalizing non violent offenders, spying on us, imprisoning those who shout Liberty!, & Individuality.
The Declaration of Independece list of grievances have reappeared. Funny how history always repeats itself. Book burnings, false media, government mandates, ..
But, by all means, let's blame & attack the D of I, the Constitution & the BOR. Let's enjoy our slavery to the king. Nahhhh.
