Ron Paul On The Wall

Congressman Ron Paul tells what he thinks of Trump's plan for The Wall and offers his alternatives.

I was watching NBC News last night with stories of those caught in the immigration crackdown. That certainly stoked my empathy with some being left homeless when their plans to come to America were dashed.

That got me to thinking of one of my best buddies; She's a British citizen, although has lived in this country for decades. I wondered if she'd heard from immigration authorities as a result of all this. She's told me before she has to check in with immigration every six months or year, or some such.

She said they run her through the ringer, grilling her with questions for quite a while every time. She also said that doesn't seem to be the case if you have dark skin. If you're Mexican, she said you're in and out of there in fifteen minutes. Wonder if that's still the case?

The wall will stop people looking for work who can't afford to pay someone to get them across. It won't stop drug couriers who have the means to get across a variety of other ways.

You know, like how gun control hinders mostly the people who don't intend to use their guns in the commission of a crime.

I'm happy with the current level of border enforcement and don't see immigration as a problem. I see it as a huge economic boon that has greatly helped our country, and specifically California, in ways that directly benefits every single California resident.

But by all means, if the GOP thinks Americans want the jobs that illegals are taking, watch salaries rise and your cost of living rise, especially at the grocery store. It will happen quite quickly if Trump begins deportations. Very little on grocery store shelves won't be affected.

The real concern with Trump is that I think he believes the misinformation he tweets. China is masterminding a climate change conspiracy. His inauguration was the most attended ever. Three million more people voted for him than his opponent in a voter fraud conspiracy. Mexican rapists are flooding across the border. And so on. These are alt-right conspiracy theories and his top adviser comes from the alt-right. The GOP should be concerned they've sided with a loose cannon. The question is how long they'll go on before they impeach him in favor of Pence. He already has an impeachable offense.

I posted a while back about an article in the San Deigo Tribune regarding already existing fences on the border. One border crosser pointed out it was such a hassle getting over the fences, people already here were unlikely to go through the same hassle to get back home to Mexico. The fence was keeping illegals in instead of out.

Trump has always been told the things he wants to hear and that he is the savior (or Fuhrer). If any of his business staff had a difference of opinion, he used his infamous line "you're fired." He has continued this as President at the expense of our country. I admire leaders, like Lincoln, and even Obama, who chose people that weren't necessarily like-minded. A book was written of Lincoln's efforts: Team of Rivals. Indeed, Obama selected sen Gregg for commerce sec, Chuck Hagel and Robert Gates for defense, and Ray Lahood for transportation. Diversity always results in a better outcome, as does empathy.

IMO, he shoulda coulda highlighted a few points.
#1. Why we need towns the drug war.
#2. Why we need to deregulate and abolish overreach.
#3. Why we need to end welfare.
#4. Why we would save over $100 billion dollars per year by building a wall for $15 or 50 billion.
#5. Why all points tie together.

Typo #1 "towns" should read to outlaw, abolish, end, the war on all drugs.

Build that wall, help keep people out, help keep society from growing, help rural livelihoods.

More people, more problems......Fuck growth.

You don't see illegal immigration as a problem because it doesn't affect you. Illegal aliens flowing through the border take jobs from legal aliens with work visas and green cards, people who have followed the rules only to have some illegal scab steal there job. CNBC reported recently that the boarder wall pencils out to roughly $150.00 per US household, a little less than Cal Fire strong arms me for. My check is ready.

The boarder wall is like a mommy and a daughter with a dog so small, who could notice, even though rental management said "no pets". The illogic people contemplate to avoid guilt.
