In Defense of Trump's Immigration Policy

A writer from City Journal tells us why President Trump's policy of clamping down on immigration is ok and should pass constitutional muster. Certainly not politically correct, but I generally agree with her:

"The president has the authority to “suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens” if he determines that their entry “would be detrimental to the interests of the United States,” in the words of a 1952 federal statute. Opponents of Trump’s order claim that it violates the 1965 Immigration and Nationalization Act, which declares that no visa applicant shall be “discriminated against” because of “nationality” or “place of residence.” But the president’s constitutional power over national security matters takes precedence over a congressional anti-discrimination clause, as Andrew McCarthy has argued.

" The order singles out entries from seven countries based on evidence of the heightened Islamic terror threat there. If doing so is impermissible because those seven countries have Muslim-majority populations, then national security has been completely sublimated to political correctness. It is not the U.S.’s fault that the individuals creating the most worldwide havoc with bombings and beheadings of civilians are Muslims motivated by radical Islamic ideology. The U.S. is forced to take its enemies as and where it finds them."

The writer admits public relations doesn't seem to be the Trump Administration's strong point:

The new administration’s sense of urgency about delivering on the president’s campaign promises is admirable. But just because Trump said that he was going to do something during the election does not obviate the need to explain that action now. Trump will never convince the Left that he is not a fascist.

I agree. There's nothing Trump can do to appease The Left. I don't think he'll gain anything by trying to play nice.

Great find!
The progressive reps (should?) know this, but stir the pot of hate instead. Their agenda grows more apparent by the hour.
The Democrats voted for the 7 ban, but never carried it out.
The responsibility of all new admin is to audit the old. The duty of the President is to make sure all constitutional Laws were carried out. Protecting our Constitution is their number one duty.

Trump has a duty to fire the federal judge who intentionally misrepresents the meaning of the 14th Amendment, federal statutes, etc....

Anyone else see a problem with judges having carte blanc lifelong terms regardless of who is in power and control, when in fact, the very power and control is lifelong terms until death.

Obviously, that is a recipe for murder for anyone given so much power.

I don't know about that but I would have a problem with a president firing a judge for simply ruling against the president.

Rusty, Your list was copied that from another website. While I don't have time to look up all of the incidents listed, I did find that RFK's assassin was born in Palestine with Jordanian citizenship. He practiced these religions: Baptist, 7th Day Adventist, Ancient Mystical Order of the Rose Cross.
The 1972 Pan Am hijacking was carried out by Palestinian terrorists belonging to the Black September group and aided by German Neo-Nazis.
This makes me question the veracity of the entire list.
While the majority of Palestinians are Muslim, Palestine was not among the countries named in Trump's immigration ban.
"WASHINGTON — President Trump on Friday afternoon approved a sweeping executive order that suspended entry of all refugees to the United States for 120 days, barred Syrian refugees indefinitely, and blocked entry into the United States for 90 days for citizens of seven predominantly Muslim countries: Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen."
Being a Muslim is not a crime any more than being a Catholic or a Protestant is.
A current list of the top 10 countries with a majority of Muslims is
Indonesia
India
Pakistan
Bangladesh
Nigeria
Egypt
Iran
Turkey
Algeria
Morocco
Only one of those is on "the list".

Some of what commenters have said is terrifying to me. Obviously, you really don't understand the constitution, separation of powers, etc. Lists are nice and I could make one 100times as long regarding the risk white males have on our society. The reality is you are 10x more likely to be killed by a toddler with a gun than by a refugee. This is cowardice. This is xenophobia fueled fear and hate. How many million Muslims live here and are law abiding, tax paying, anthem standing and singing Americans? 3.3 million. I am much more afraid of right wing gun nuts that are triggered by Trump's rhetoric like the Quebec mosque attacker or the white supremacist kids that hates blacks and therefore enters a church and murders with impunity, or the crazed white, right wing pro-life nutcase attacking people at a Colorado Planned Parenthood clinic. Get a grip people.

HOJ, they aren't lifers. They are supposed to be held to the same accountability that we are supposed to hold all officials to. A major culling of the traitors in all offices is our duty. They are supposed to preserve the constitution, not revise. Protect the Constitution, not interpret in party favor. Defend the Constitution, not ignore it. Their Oath to office is an acknowledgement that they must step down or be forced to step down should & when they betray their Oath.

11:51, Trump did not create the list, the Democrats did. Trump is carrying out his Presidential duties of making sure all Constitutional Laws were executed. This list, is a Law created and passed, but never executed. The Constitution states that all Constitutional capital L Laws must be executed, & all unconstitutional little L laws vetoed.
KrisAnne Hall has a series about this, for those interested.

11:59, the list is not about Muslims. It is about terrorist nations that was Constitutionally blocked by Congress but never executed. Instead, Obama chose to open the borders. Trump is busy straightening this out.

I don't see how someone who claims to be a libertarian can consistently support people having less liberty. Same with more government, and more people with arbitrary power over other people. Are you sure you're not actually a republican? Because you're sure not any branch of libertarian I could identify with.

P.S. your blog's "prove you're not a robot" bullshit is now even worse than ever, making you select areas in images. Make it die.

USS Cole 2000, 17 American sailors killed 39 mamed and injured. By Mulism males from the country of Sudan while refueling in Yemen's Aden harbor. Being Muslim is not a crime. Being a terrorist is, Muslim, Christian, Hari Krishna, whatever. Terrorism hasn't decreased with past policies, President Trump is changing those policies.

I have had No problems with not a robot. Try doing it calmly, maybe do a little Yoga first.

So why do you think Muslim's despise us? Perhaps its our unrepentant support of Israel even when they commit human rights abuses against Palestinians. Or that we interfere in their countriwes e.g., Iran in '53, Iraq twice, now Syria, Yemen,Libya etc. We tell them its for their own good, which is difficult to justify when women and children are being bombed. WHy wouldn't they think they are at war with the US? Additionally, if you ignore all of the mass killings perpetrated by white males in the US yet worry about women and children refugees attacking us here despite little evidence to support a threat you are truly blinded by fear and, perhaps, xenophobic.

Not every Muslim nation hates on others. The media stirs the hate more than anything. With that said, here is an article that refutes the hate. You won't find it in your mainstream news. Muslim countries appreciate & understand the importance of the immigration adjustments aka ban aka review.

An article earlier this month said that while Iran is fuming over the ban, another country (Pakistan?) caught 37 terrorists trying to board planes.
The war is against terrorists, not Muslims! Unfortunately, the wardrobe and overall collectivism makes it easy for terrorists to blend in. Those who want peace, know how to help create it.
