Its so good to hear your font again Fred! I hope you're feeling better in every way.

They hope to run the vapor stores out of business, so their precious cigarette sales will bounce back. Thousands of jobs on the line here.

Those who have already switched over to ecigs will stillfare pretty well, by making their own eliquids. Those who haven't yet switched will be paying the price.
Vapers have been making their own ejuices, to cut costs even further, as it is. Five cents per ml is easier to live with than $3.00 per ml. If any readers go the route of DIY, make sure you only use Kosher or Pharmaceutical grade VG & PG, and use only water base flavorings.

This whole thing is so unconstitutional in every way. Government has no authority over what people choose to partake in. They have no authority to dictate the quality of air they deem appropriate to breathe. Air is free choice. It's every person's responsibility to control their preferences, not control or over ride another persons preference. Some like it foggy, some like it hot. It's every person's own responsibility to create their own levels of acceptability.

Good to see you back Fred.

Hey Fred, yay......😇

Been waiting for the cap and trade welfare carbon check......seems taxpayers own vastly more forests than the Yurok tribe, and the Yurok tribe gets $7 million.......seems we all are owed some money, not $7 million, but not chump change either.

Glad your fingers are back on the keyboard.

This cigarette tax thing will backfire. Our legislature should quit trying to control people's behavior and concentrate on generating tax revenues by creating new jobs and to simultaneously quit spending money like there's no tomorrow. Californias being run more like a banana republic every day. Actually, it's disconcerting. And it doesn't look like there's any indication that our "leaders" are going to be changing their ways anytime soon. Until the voters wake up and smell the coffee, there'll be no change. Oh, the voters won't wake up because 59% of them pay no taxes and will continue to keep these yahoos in office because of all the free stuff they get.

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest and welcome back!

Don't agree with you but glad you're apparently doing better!.

Of the 59%, how many avoid voting altogether? These folks are more patriotic than 2 party system voters....

The increased tax was approved by the voters in the last election. And California added over 400,000 new jobs in 2016. I guess unknown isn't looking hard enough.

Not cap-and-trade but a credit none the less,

👇

Important message from the CPUC: Your eligibility to receive climate credit.

A Message from the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC)
This month* your utility bill will include a credit identified as the "California Climate Credit." Your household and millions of others throughout the state will receive this credit on your utility bills.

This payment comes from a California program that is fighting climate change. Your Climate Credit is designed to help you join in these efforts. You can use the bill savings from your Climate Credit however you choose, but you can save even more money by investing the savings in energy-saving home upgrades, including more efficient lights and appliances. You can find more information and receive rebates for these and many other energy-efficient choices for your home at www.EnergyUpgradeCA.org/credit.

The Climate Credit is one of many programs resulting from landmark legislation called the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006.Together, these programs are cutting pollution, creating jobs, and investing in cleaner energy and transportation. For more information about climate change science and programs to reduce carbon pollution, visit www.climatechange.ca.gov.

I love when people try to cast California as rushing to the bottom. We've got the strongest economy in the US and the 6th largest economy in the world ($2.5 trillion GDP, and growing!). And oh no, conservatives bemoan California having an anti-business climate. Far from it.

Our strong economy, above any other factor, allows us to entertain such ideas as launching our own climate satellite to continue the scientific discovery Trump is shutting down, or to entertain universal healthcare (a true single payer system) and a lot of other nice things I bet conservatives hate. Hurrah!

400,000? With the words of Mr. Dick Puddlecoat & others in mind, I can totally believe that. 'Up and down the country there are people being paid hefty sums of your taxes to work full-time telling you what you are allowed to consume with your own post-tax cash."

Approved by majority non smokers no doubt.

Temp jobs, woohoo.....not!

Strongest economy in US - what a hoot, the data does not support the assertion.

Cap and trade California is a tax based mechanism that has nothing to do with real environmental efforts to clean up, but is a scapegoat policy to tar and feather the taxpayers on behalf of subsidizing liberal political interests like minorities, big business and the police state.

California uses faked, fraudulant data to pull the wool over most eyes........fools in California are ubiquitous.

Taxing in order to spend on indigents and loafers is not economics, but is "a taking, theft" amd does not count toward economic productivity......just a transfer of interests withoutjustification or due process.......this is why California is overpopulated with takers, as compared to givers.......why give when it isjust gonna be taken anyway, but not without a fight......

See what Trump just signed yesterday......an order to do away with internet privacy rights, an order to seize assets from the falsely accused, falsely convicted, no checks and balances on the injustice system, even though BNC Trump admits the courts are stacked with liberal judges who violate their oath of being a judge......

So why would Trump be against the courts in his ulterior motive to benefit himself with the travel ban but not be against the courts with the same respect as it relates to those being accused falsely.....

answer is: Trump is part of an elitist agenda of the two party system and is in cahoots with Hillary Clintons and everyone else on capitol hill to start seizing assets of American citizens because the national debt is over 20 trillion dollars...no money left except iou's.....

Exactly, local supes do it too......take from peter to pay off paul because it is easier than the resolve to provide jobs,jobs,jobs.......poor voters deserve their lifestyles when they incorrectly vote, support bullshiters...voters always have a better choice, but all to often invent reasons otherwise to masque their individual ineptness.......

I wonder if Fred's health woes are atleast partially due to cigarette smoking?

I wonder if Fred's health woes are due to or atleast complicated by cigarette smoking?

I sincerely doubt it, 2:45. If anything, smoking kept him from other harms. It's the quitting smoking that gets you. Cancer is a random, luck of the draw, gene pool, combined with hazards forced upon us by higher ups. Military bomb testing, clorine .. oh, yes, clorine, https://www.quora.com/Which-cigarettes-has-the-least-chemicals-in-it/answer/Michael-J-McFadden?share=da76e744

California is in the top 3 list for job cuts in the month of March, lots of layoffs tocut costs as labor is too expensive.

Get ready robots......people demand too much greed, want stuff outside their means and ways....... Trump wants to talk about the greatest jobs theft in America as it relates to manufacturing jobs sent overseas...... But then he lies to the American people in his same rhetoric because people cost too much and computerized robots will take over their jobs....

So robotics is the greatest job killer in Mankind's history????

Nope, it is still humans in control and power.....
